You may be better off to cut your existing vinyl at your cabinet bases and remove it. Is your new plank flooring glue down or floating?

Thanks bubba. We will be using floating flooring. We will not be using Ardex. We can try to remove carpet and vinyl piece of flooring to see if that will level the floor.
I didnt want to remove the vinyl in fear of disturbing asbestos - but not sure either.
