carpet remove to laminate floor??

considering taking out original carpet in my 77 31ft international. looking at many different types and styles of flooring. One thing I'm wondering- would I need to remove the carpet that goes up the sides to bottom of cabinets? I have light to medium brown patterned carpet so would blend not to bad with wood grain laminate floor? or should I remove all of it? it so I'd need to put something part way up the wall.. especially in rear bath as it goes up foot there. any ideas? I see I have water gathering on plastic counter in bathroom after rain so I need to find the leak before I start. Hoping it is just the window and not the roof?

Take a corner of the carpet down and look at what is there. The surface behind the carpet may work out as is.

As long as you are not putting the laminate over the carpet, I don't see a problem. It is your trailer. I am surprised it is not nasty and soaked with rodent dropping like most old trailers. Is it shag?

First thing I'd recommend you check as the cause for your bathroom leak is the plumbing stack gaskets. They were a primary source of leaks in several of my trailers. New neoprene gaskets can be purchased from Andy at Inland RV.

I am sure it is the vent. It is a poor design. If you go back with the conventional seal use lots of caulk under it and above it. I caulked the vent pipe to the roof then put the square Teepee over that with more caulk to seal the screws. The problem with the design is there is no top on the Teepee to keep water from getting between it and vent tube. The rubber sheet that is used as a gasket, that fits over the vent pipe cracks in short order creating a leak.

thanks..

I see there is a round upside down bowl looking thing on roof with another attached to it with vent holes in it (looks like a add on) is this the bathroom vent? the other square vents are the ones you crank up.

There should be two plumbing vents. Usually the black water vent is right above the toilet. The gray water vent us usually above the kitchen area. These things are only about 4-5 inches square or round. My 81 uses a square teepee shaped vent. There are aftermarket ones out there that are round. Airstream may have used different ones through the years.

I wonder if carpeting provides better insulation against the cold coming through the floor versus laminate/cork flooring? (when camping in cooler climes that is)
