Adding fold down bed over dinette?

Has anyone added a fold down cot over a dinette on a 2008 Safari Sport. Like to try to find an Airstream customizer in the NC area to look into this. I know its tight but even if there isn't a 3rd person would make great stowage space for gear or whatever. Wondering if the frame could support this. Thinking outside the box.

Thank you and look forward to the 2014 camping year.

Many of us have added bunks to our trailers. We have added both permanent stationary and fold-down bunks in ours. We are north of Atlanta. You are welcome to come see our solutions in our own Airstream.

We have many pics of our bunks here on the forum. If you search for "airstream bunks" you'll see lots! We made our current bunks from Coleman camping cots.

These are very old pics, from our very first weekend with the bunks. You can see them in both the up and down positions. This shows them without the mattresses etc, and before we built the tv shelves in between them. When the center bunks are raised, the bottom ones can be used for seating. We have seven kids, so bunks were a must! We are selling the Airstream in the Spring as soon as we finish the one we are currently restoring, so we are still building bunks! The new one is similar but a little longer so we will have a permanent bed for us grownups in it!
