'64 Tradewind Newbie

Hi All,
I am a new owner of a 64 tradewind - restore in progress. Thanks all for invaluable in in the forum - made finding the right AS a breeze.
I have a question ; Front edge of goucho is tippy when pulled ou in bed position - should there be any supports that I may be missing?

Congratulations on your new-to-you TradeWind! I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as we have from our '64!

Our GlobeTrotter doesn't have any leg-type supports and is very stable. You may want to look into tightening the screws or replacing the 1/4" plywood platform with new if the screw holes are worn. Some other years had legs that dropped down or pulled out, but the way the '64s are it would interfere with the ability to open the cabinets or completely stow the bed.

If there aren't cabinets below (like on the side goucho - non-twin model) a leg could be retrofit and adjustments could be made pretty easily to accomodate a leg if you want.

Its true, with permanent or swing down legs the lower cabinets would not be accessible when goucho was in upright position. There are slots of approx. 3/4 inch under the front lip .... that has me puzzled.
I found contruction drawings of gouchos in the restore section of this site...... it shows tapered legs stored on either end of the goucho. If this is correct, and the legs are pulled from their storage and used when goucho is folded down,,, how would they stay in place??????

I believe the notches are there to keep the gaucho in place while on the road...

Are the construction drawings you found for a 1964? Can you provide a link...I'll check to see if they match how mine is built. There is always the possibility that they are different from one trailer ot he next.

Hi Shari -
The person that submitted the construction drawings did not denote a year. It did look similar to what I have and to the goucho that you replaced w/ a dinette.
When I recall where the link is I will be sure to send it to you.
