5054 or 6061 for interior skins?

I have seen many places that people use 6061 for interior skins 0.032

Would 5054 work?

Same thickness or 0.040?

Thanks y’all

It has been a little while, but I am fairly certain that I used 5054 in a .032 thickness for my interior, which worked just fine. I don't see any reason to use the 6061 (more expensive, harder to work with, etc.). Similarly, no need to go any thicker than .032.

Now the next thing to think about is how you are going to "seal" that aluminum. I assume you want it to look bright and shiny, so you will need a clear coat. There are several threads on this, and it is a non-trivial consideration. The aluminum that is installed inside new trailers has the same factory installed plasticoat as the exterior--it isn't just a clear coat that gets sprayed on at some point. There are some folks who opine that the way to go is to use an alloy that is Alclad, but then you are looking at some serious expense.

Good luck!

I looked back at my documentation, and it turns out that I used 5052 H32, but the 5054 would work similarly, I suspect.
