2015-2020 Classic Lavatory Door Handle

BEWARE!

The latch that moves back and forth that allows the door to open and to remain closed broke in my trailer while I was on a 10 day trip. The latch no longer appeared in its normal location.

After disassembly, I found the small spring inside had broken. (BTW, it is not supposed to be opened, I had to drill out the pressings)

IF this happens to you, the replacement latch set costs $187.00.

Yes. $187 for a handle and latch assembly. The spring probably costs about $.05.

My good buddies in the parts department at Out of Doors Mart (who had this in stock -- which I found amazing), pointed out on the box label that the assembly was made in Italy.

Kind of like the Baraldi stove fan. That too is from Italy where form is more important sometimes than function. At least on my new Classic they got rid of the sliding controls for the Baraldi.


So you have a BEAUTIFUL door handle/latch that is BEAUTIFUL but can't be repaired. Wonder if you can get to a really good lock shop and find something as a replacement.
