1975 Argosy Interior Skins - Can Old insulation still be 'good' ?

Working on our 1975 Argosy 26' today, and began taking off the interior skins. The insulation around the front windows was a nasty, soggy, bug and excrement laden mess:

On the plus side, it is now out of the Argosy, and once I regasket the windows and re-seal everything, I shouldn't have to worry about it getting wet anymore !

By contrast, the insulation in the 'upper section' appears to be in immaculate shape. The portion I can see, looks like it was brand new:

My question is, should I still replace it? If it ends up being in good shape, any downside to just leaving it there and only replaceing areas that are damp/damaged?

IF you are happy with the type of insulation, and would replace it with the same, then I would say leave the clean stuff where it is. 40 year old pink fiberglass will have the same R value as brand new fiberglass, so replacing it is just an exercise in masochism. Now, anything that has been bug or rodent infested definitely needs to go. The old insulation may have absorbed/trapped old trailer funky smells as well. This might be the only argument for replacing it with new fiberglass.

good luck!

Just replace what does not look immaculate. Saves time and money, to spend on other issues.......
