Ad for 1954 Airstream Safari

Here is a scan of an advertisement for a 1954 Airstream Safari. Look how shiny the trailer in the ad is compared to my trailer!

Wow, a 'seperate toilet room', what great advances the fifties brought! I love the 'Battleship strong'!

Very cool though, that one in the ad must be polished. That's super-shiney! They didn't all come out of the factory like that, did they?

I found it on eBay...my favorite shopping location!

Stefrobrts...I would imagine all Airstreams left the factory shiny! My exterior simply suffers from years of oxidation coupled with no attention to polishing.

the best source for vintage ads is the national geographic, especially in the fifties.

garage sales would be a good source, how about a dozen for a buck!

They started out all nice and shiney... and after rolling out of the plant
mother nature takes it from there. Air ( or Technically correct Oxygen - O Atomic Number 8) is actually one of the most corrosive substances (gas) known in nature.
Ancient artifacts have been found almost intact submerged in water (isolated from exposure to Oxygen).
Sorry...probably more than you wanted to hear...I just find that stuff fascinating.

Wow, makes me want to get mine shined back to 'normal'!

BTW, has anyone ever seen a copy of the interesting free booklet "World at your Doorstep" which is mentioned in the above ads?
