Thank you for the comments.. even though i have to disagree, that this is as good as it gets, since i made some mistakes down the line and some of the fit of the parts is not as good as i would like to see it... but i will do it better next time

below some more pics i took yesterday. I finished painting the hitch and laying out the floor. One thing i learned from my last build , was to make sure the floor seems are tight when drilling and bolting, therefore i used a ratchet strap to pull the floor together. this made the alignment and drilling much easier.
As for Fasteners i use 1/4” by 1” elevator bolts from VTS.
Once i had the center sections together, i decided to add some angle to the front and back frame, to provide additional support for the floor.
The Original Frame had a U-Bolt around the center pipe front and back, to secure the floor to the frame.. i decided to weld the angle in its place.
Also when i did my 58 it had a steel plate up front, to tie the frame and the shell together. the shell has a reinforcement plate up front. I wanted to do the same thing here, therefore i welded the additional plate up front.
Hopefully the weather stays ok and my wife lets me do some work, so i can Finnish flooring today and then start with the c-channel install..

Final update for this weekend.
The floor is entirely secured. i had two seams , that were not on top of an outrigger, so i added a piece of 1/8” 5” wide strip of metal below the floor.. after painting with por15 of course.
The C-channel is screwed to the wood and I used elevator bolts on each outrigger. I do plan on adding some more bolts between the outriggers as well as the curved sections.
Next week i will be flipping the frame and start insulating..

You are doing an amazing job. Now I want to start all over again on an older trailer.

thank you for the compliment.

I finished today with the last bolts on the c-channel and managed it to turn the frame upside down. started now with the insulation. I will post some more info later on and some pictures as usual.

I really like a pipe frame. makes it so much easier to turn upside down

Once the frame was flipped, i cut 1” wide strips of my 3/4” insulation Foam and glued it to the frame and overlaid it with the 3/4” insulation cut to size.
Leaving an air space between the insulation and the floor results in a better R-Value. Everything is secured with exterior wood screws and Fender washers, so the screw does not pull though the insulation.
Once all insulation was done, i taped everything air tight.

Pictures as usual:

since the insulation went pretty quick, i had some time to start with the new belly pan. I decided to make the seam along the long axis, as this is how the old pan was and it worked out better utilizing the sheets i bought.
The section above the axle will be left open, so i can install two small tanks.
The curved section was as usual very hard to do, but I believe it looks aright . plus the sell will overlap 2 inches and the new outside trim band another 1/4”.

more to come probably next week. i still got to figure out on how to build the entry step before i wrap the fwd part.

and the Journey continues :

I finished cutting and installing the remaining sheets for the belly pan. As usual i used the large head rivets from VTS on the bottom and regular rivets to secure along the c-channel. I wish there was an easier way to do the curved sections. I will seal the seams afterwards and clean it up, so it looks good. Also the new belly trim will overlap by 1” front and back.
enjoy the pictures

i managed it this weekend to turn the Frame around and mount the old axle temporarily. Finally i could drag the frame back out of my carport, to make room for my truck
i lifted the shell up high enough and moved the frame underneath, thanks to my trusty old Craftsman mower
Surprisingly the shell went on without annoy major issues. The front and back sections were a little tight, but went on ok. those panels however will be replaced as they are badly damaged.
So, after another long weekend, here the results:

I looked at all interior panels. It appears they have the original paint on it with two layers of latex or similar . Any suggestion of what to use to strip them down to bare aluminum ? They will be out and laying flat for stripping though . Thanks for any advice

I was thinking of using aircraft remover, it's some good stuff . Does anybody know what type of paint the factory used in 48 ?

And thanks for the compliment .

Subscribing to this thread. I have a 47 liner I want to restore at some point and I like the idea of a factory appearing frame with upgrades. Nice work so far. Good luck with the project. Here are a few pictures of mine.

Thanks. It was used as a hunting shack for 30 years in Wisconsin before I got it. I actually towed it home and stopped at a vintage trailer rally for a couple days on the way. It needs some work but the frame seems pretty solid. I still want to beef up or replace the frame when I get around to restoring it. For now I am going to repair and clean it up as best I can and use it sparingly.
I found a second 47 liner that has close to 100% of the interior with it but the frame is totally destroyed and no title. The owner and I cant agree on price but I hope to work something out and pick it up this spring. If I get it I might have some interior pieces available if your interested.

Removeall 220 is the least toxic of the strippers that I've used. I believe its available through VTS. It doesn't burn your skin like some of the harsher products, but since you'll be out in the open that may not be of primary concern. For anyone using a stripper on overhead panels inside a trailer, this would be the hands down first choice. I used it to take the clear coat off of my Classic motorhome.

Unfortunately we had a lot of rain this weekend and I did not get much accomplished . However i did managed to lay one of the side panels flat and brushed citri strip on it . The next morning I started scraping the layers or paint off and then used a rag with additional stripper to clean it . I finally wiped it with mineral spirits and it turned out pretty good . Judging by the time I needed I figure I have about 50hrs worth of work ahead of me :-)

I finally got some time to report on my progress. it is going slower lately than expected.

All interior panels are now removed and i started cleaning up and replacing all damaged skins.

here some pictures of the progress. I cleaned off the corrosion of the frames before i installed the new panels.
I did started with the longest panel first to get the shell finally secured to the c-channel .
enjoy
