Thanks Maggie and Vivian . . . the captain's "attitude" is inspiring in deed! [sic]

I have captained much smaller sailing vessels in challenging weather, and it still brings chills to my body to feel, viscerally, the deeply-rooted "command motion" which that captain had to make instantly.

His entire life reduced to a millisecond . . .

I hate the way the word “resilience” is sometimes thrown around, as it sometimes seems an excuse for allowing or inflicting catastrophic emotional injury...”ohh, people are resilient, and they’ll be fine“ or “ohhh, children are resilient, he/she will be fine”.

But, sometimes it’s true, that we are resilient, and we do successfully come out the other end of our storms.
