We are at JC this week, man what a difference

We are here M-F to have a bunch of repairs done. The lounge and terraport are open.

Why this thread? To report that basically no one is here. There are the 2 girls at the desk....which is all most completely blocked off by Plexiglas. There were multiple people here at 7AM to drop off their trailer but only my wife and I remain behind with a single other person in the lounge.

Wearing a mask indoors for 8 hours is something that is required. They take your temperature and have you fill out a contact tracing form.

You can't go into the work area unless called upon my the technician.....

It is a stark contrast from exactly a year ago to where I could chit chat with the techs and gain some knowledge........not this year......lounge city....I am hoping they fix it in a shorter period of time. I don't want to be here for 5 days wearing this stupid mask......

Covid........You are hated....that is all.

It sounds like what used to be a fun experience has been morphed into drudgery. I hope that your repairs can be completed in record time.

It sounds like there aren't a lot of customers hanging out, but can you tell how busy they are service bay wise? Does it look like they're booked up?

Nice to see a little bit of common sense being applied to the problem.

If you're standing in the lounge and looking through the walls into the service bays.....the right side have all the doors closed, but I know there are a couple of trailers on that side.

On the left side (where mine is), about 1/2 the bays are full, (including mine).

There were probably 9 people here this morning and most left to do "other things" I guess.

So they are "steady" I'd say.

Must be busy - I called two weeks ago and the soonest I could get in was October 20th! We're headed to Alumalina that week so I made it for the 27th; will hit it on the way home from NC to IL.

Definitely NOT fun by any measure. We have our devices like her iPad Pro and I have my laptop to "pass the time" but yes, I'm hoping for record time completion......they did find a bunch of leaks using the pressure test and soap suds.....good lord, but I'm not convinced they have found the root leak yet....

The techs at JC are about as good as they get. Hopefully, they will get to the bottom of your problems. If you need a break and want some of the best fried chicken in the world, head over to the Inn Between in Botkins. I can attest that the beer is also excellent. We have been there many times over the years. It is right on State Road 274 just west of I-75, only a few minutes from JC.

Been there, agreed about the beer!

Wife and I are avoiding restaurants like the plague right now. Not a whole lot to do and lots of things are closed. I think the little movie theater is now out of business in JC.

Strange days for sure.

This is a true PITA....we asked for a light fixture conversion suggestion for the rear bedroom because I keep banging my head on it. They were going to look into seeing what they had for an alternative. They replaced the fixture with a closet fixture.......we were not consulted about it.....I was "ok" with it....wife hates it.....

They are going to find another solution. The not being able to go in an watch the work is frustrating.....I know they will make it right....but good lord....ask us before you change a cosmetic / functional item.

I am very grateful for their efforts...however, always ask the customer first to ensure it doesn't create an issue......

Covid.....again....we hate you for this (not being able to go in the service bays).

Just venting....

I know you want to avoid restaurants, but I'd go hang out at The Heidout at lunch time. Great way to break the day in two.

I was there in June. All techs and bays were full. As always they have a backlog of trailers in the lot north of the service building with trailers that they slip in when they have time.

Presidential museums and other stuff to do near Jackson Center

Sorry you are stuck in the lobby at JC. Here are some things you can do to pass the time that do not involve crowds.

While in Jackson Center, you are only a short drive from two excellent presidential museums, The Warren G. harding Museum in Marion, Ohio, and the Rutheford B. Hayes museum in Fremont, Ohio.

Hayes was elected in 1876 defeating Tilden in what is often referred to as the "Stolen Election". It is a fascinating and illuminating history that is covered reasonably well in the museum.

Harding's home features his Front Porch, from which he conducted his "Front Porch" Campaign. The guides there tell an interesting story of what that was like and how it changed the town.

Closer to Jackson Center are the towns of Sydney and New Bremen, both have lovely parks you can stroll around. New Bremen was on the Miami- Erie canal, parts of which you can still see. It was a major commercial artery back in the day.

If you need something to do, I highly recommend the Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton. It is only an hour away.

We were there two weeks ago and while they were busy, they completed our (minor) fixes in one day. I was very happy with the service and the helpfulness and attitude of all involved. I'm sorry I didn't know about the Inn Between - a cold beer would have been nice!

Don't eat too many cookies while you are waiting. And the Neil Armstrong space museum is right up the road.

We were there last week and the Terraport was pretty full and lots of activity. We opted to grab a hotel in Lima so we could continue to work in relative comfort and even met a client in Columbus.

Loved our tech Keaton and really enjoy having the extra clearance the Dexter 3 lift gives our 30 Classic. Too bad factory tours were off the list as my wife would have enjoyed it (Ive been before).

We were there two weeks ago for 4 days; sorry, but due to the virus cookies have been canceled for the time being, as is the popcorn.
