Nevada Casino's Closing?

(9PM March 18th) An email received this AM. Things will be different for some time.

Dear Raymond,

In a press conference today, Governor Sisolak ordered the temporary closure of all casinos for a minimum of 30 days, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting at midnight, our casino areas will be closed. Our restaurants will be closed tomorrow starting at 12pm, and the hotel will be closed as of March 18.

We look forward welcoming everyone back as soon as safety allows. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates and communication to our guests.
******

The air traffic over Boulder City to Las Vegas this morning is... quiet. Nothing.

Traffic coming from Arizona, through Boulder City, on Highway 93 is light, mostly some 18 wheelers.

If anything is going to get the 'attention' of America... this is it. Casinos never close... until today.

I have three antique Mills Slot Machines in our hallway. A nickel, dime and quarter. I do not play them much. I may have to fight off the neighbors who need their... fix.

There was plenty of parking for 18 wheeler trucks and those towing trailers in the Casino parking lots this week. Those will no doubt remain open... just no facilities.

Railroad Pass Casino on the west side of Boulder City has a large parking area and truck/auto gasoline/diesel pumps. This can be put on your map for refueling going through Las Vegas to the north, or to the south with California, Arizona and beyond.

...and then Libraries are being swamped and closing.

1. Government sends workers a $1000 check.
2. Casinos close.
Coincidence? I don't think so. Although casinos are a gathering place for the elderly.
I'll be curious to see if the sale of lottery tickets spikes soon!

The 'Local's Casino' are probably 50% elderly... lets say elderly is 60 and older.

The Strip Casinos are 80% younger generation. We 'elderly' do not go to the Strip. It is the smaller Casinos that welcome the... elderly.

A local Casino was giving patrons food to take home, otherwise it would have gone to waste. My neighbor wanted us to come over and have some Corn Beef, yesterady, that was given to them at the Casino restaurant.

My digestive system does not handle the Corn Beef... but give me Prime Rib and Beef... I would have been there.

Free Cash... is only a Government Program.

Even the Casino's understand that their FREE... costs someone. Free Buffet is the Fly Fisherman's method of catching trout. Stink Bait is a Carp and Catfish method of fishing.

The Buffet... comes without a taste of steel barbs... but if you are wise and 'elderly' even some of us have figured this all out and make the best of it. Sly old Foxes we are!

You should pack up the trailer and come north Ray. I think the Purple Cow in Hardin, MT is still open. The last time I was there, they had slot machines, and they made a decent BLT.

The Bureau of Reclamation for the Lower Colorado River... is closing at 12 noon today. I saw no one in the parking lot other than two employees spraying along the sidewalk.

Thalweg... Hardin, Montana. Winter ends around July, I heard.

No body has a better Double Cheeseburger, Fries and a Coke without Ice than Denny's. This is Nature's Gift to ME when traveling. When we go into an area to Boondock... Denny's if available. When we leave an OTG Boondocking campsite... Denny's. It is a health food for me. Nancy has the great salad. Green stuff with nice colored stuff mixed up on a large plate.

Veggie people get sick more often. Give me grease and protein and I can hike miles and carry a five gallon bucket of rock, found in the process. I call them Veginarians. It is a culture of deprivation of protein that is needed to build muscles and surplus fat to get through days, or months like now.

The women look like skinny men without a beard. Not good for the human species in the future, I say.

If cows eat it... I will not. Look at all of the problems Dr. Pol has with them. I did learn a lot on helping calving... may be of use in the next 12 months. I do not mind getting my hands are arms, dirty. Ranches always need help.

I do not even see people on our street working in their yards, now. One bicyclist this morning and one guy walking his dog. He was selling his house himself. He could catch something from a possible looker and then be having an Estate Sale.

Just relax, take a deep breath with a mouth of cotton balls to filter the air. This is going to be something to tell the grandkids someday. They are concerned about their Computer catching THE Virus and may be confused, already.

People use to criticize me for blowing my nose in a fancy hanky... western looking. Now I can wrap cotton balls into to filter the air. Of course, pass out as it filters out almost all of the Air... but works well. I now have paper towels in my pocket to blow my nose and also use as a napkin at home. This is how to keep people away from you... do as I do. Acting crazy makes one immune to real crazy people.

You've got a Buddy Heater now. You're good to go. Plus, Hardin is just down the road from the Custer Battlefield. There's got to be a metaphor in there somewhere.

Better yet. My parents did not do well planning ahead. We were down to the last gallon or two and it was late at night. We entered a town and the one Service Station with one pump had a light outside we parked for the night. Five of us in a 1950 or so Studebaker with the bullet nose.

At sunrise the station opened and the tank was filled and this was also THE restaurant. They had these Seeburg Wallboxes and someone played a tune... Please Mr. Custer I don't want to go.... by Larry Verne. (Check the lyrics. I loved the song and have the 45 around here somewhere.)

We were at Crow Agency, Montana just outside the Custer 'Battlefield'.

Nancy and I have been there several times, with a full tank of gasoline. The local Indians still seem not to be happy to see us. Beautiful country though.

Ray, you just gave me an earworm on that song. I have it on a CD somewhere. It’s playing in my head right now!

Wow! Memories. We had the 45 of that song when I was a kid. I thought is was hilarious. Must have been around 1970ish. I would have been around 6 years old. I remember playing it over and over.....

Saving up my nickels found on the Las Vegas parking lots, until the Casino's reopen. So far one nickel and two cents. May take awhile but:

Better yet: The Kinks- Apeman (1970)
