My Airstream called out to me

Well it has been a long year with a total knee replacement and now the Coronavirus. As a result our camping trip was canceled to Florida and all the Parks are closed. So anyway I heard my AS calling from the storage yard so my wife and I went to visit it. She told me she was lonely and was looking for some place to go.

I know it's no substitute for travel but maybe you could buy that upgrade she's been wanting just to let her know that you're still thinking about her and that you still care.

A lot of us have Airstreams in the same lonely position... Spring is here, camping season has arrived and cabin fever is running high - very high.

Having just come back from 6 months of travel in our Airstream, I still want to go travel in our Airstream! I may spend the night in my driveway.

We visited our AS by taking a picnic and having it in the AS while in storage. It was fun and helped some

Projects - I've got projects, I've got lots and lots of projects!!!! So our AS will have lots of company and with this "no travel" in place I can now focus on the projects.....

To deal with physical distancing requirements, I've been working remotely (from home) for the last month...inside my AS which is parked inside an RV garage at my home. I'm getting lots of trailer time and it's a nice quiet place to get my work done until all this passes. My wife and I have a week-long camping reservation at a state park on the Oregon coast May 16-23. As of today, they haven't extended park closures through the dates of our reservation, but I'm anticipating we will be cancelling our trip.

My Airstream is parked next to my house so it is easy to visit it. I have been taking DVDs out to the AS and sitting in it watching them. It has become my own little movie theater. However, my dog is confused - why are we never moving?

Bout 5 months in after knee replacement as well. I have 50amp service at home. Consequently I do driveway camping. Retired so just wife and I. Driveway camping gives us a break from each other. Besides that, great stereo system, drinks etc in AS❗️

Sometimes, when it's a beautiful day, I take a thermos of coffee and my maps and sit at my Airstream's kitchen table, and plan out the rest of my life.

Our AS has been calling out as well so on Sunday we pulled her out of her garage, moved her down to the house and had Easter Dinner in her. I'm sure any appeasement is temporary.

Clairstream has the Itch

Clairstream was excited for a Grand Canyon adventure. She had new shoes, her brakes were good and her bearings regreased. She was still optimistic in late March when the GC visitors center and museums were closed but entrance fees were waived and the campgrounds remained open. Her hopes were dashed when, 3 days before the trip, the campground was closed.

Clairstream anxiously awaits a Dinosaur National Monument trip in early June, and a cross-country trip in July. There's nothing else that gets her blood flowing like adventure. She's immune to trivial viruses and well qualified to keep her humans safe and largely isolated. She hopes to be able to fulfill her summer plans, and willing to comply with whatever restrictions are in her way, but says "Please, just let me roll!"

Driveway Camping

Well not the same as a nice trip, but we also do the Vicarious Cruise in the driveway. Take the maps, atlas, national parks books and dream a little. Way better than spending time in a hospital !

My Caravel is still in SoCal being restored, but I hear her siren song over the long distance to Idaho. I'm thinking of naming her "Siren."

I just hope things will be OK for me to travel to SoCal and get her when she is finished...

I hear you!
I accidentally left some bread in the oven when I stored it.
It may have taken over the Airstream by now.
I may have to enter like a SWAT team. "Get back!"

Poor Rocinante can’t have any visitors because she’s locked in her storage building, and our storage company has been closed as a non-essential business. So she’s lonely, but she’s safe until we can get in to see her again.

Living in Colorado, we have nice sunny warm days followed by tons of snow. We are in one of those cycles right now. As soon as it warms up a bit more I am pulling the Airstream out and giving her a good cleaning and waxing. I think I will do some driveway camping then as well.

In the meantime, I find reasons to go out and rearrange things...making sure everything is in place and that wave at satisfaction comes over me....the one that only Airstream folks know about....being in a place of peace and serenity that only we can create in our shiny aluminum homes.

This time will pass and we will all be safe again sometime in the future. For now, gratitude is in my heart.

My youngest daughter lives in Colorado Springs, you guys really get the weather! A couple years ago she had a nice car (a Lincoln) totaled in a hail storm.
