Just some ideas on what we are doing during crisis
I just wanted to say what my wife and I are doing during this virus pandemic.
We came home from a 6 month trip to absolutely no food in our house. That was three days ago.
We have made several decisions to get supplies. We ordered from Target 3 weeks ago and got paper towels and toilet paper. We signed up with our local grocery store for a carryout food purchase. We got 156.00 of a 215.00 order. That was fine. Food in the freezer. Our local store has no openings for more pickups and their website has crashed.
We ordered fruits and vegetables from "Imperfect" and will be getting 20 lbs of fruits and vegetables in about 5 days. $20 a box delivered every Wednesday
We ordered steaks and ground beef from Omaha steaks. I just received 190.00 worth of meat two weeks later.
We signed up with Martha Steward's cooking meals for three meals (2 people) a week. $53.00 is a lot cheaper than we would have spent going out. Great meals and fun to cook during these times.
I ventured into our local grocer at 9:00 pm at night to see what was left. I was surprised to find that the store was stocking the shelves and there was plenty. Meats, fruits and veggies, and frozen foods were all available. I bought 256.00 that night. Make sure you wipe all the packaging down with Clorox wipes before taking inside. I have 10 N95 masks and I will wear one every time I enter a store.
I have had respiratory issues in the past. I know I can not have a bout with this virus.
We have positioned our Airstream in our driveway and will use it if one of us gets sick. It is the perfect vehicle for this kind of service. Our local city administration has a code that says we can keep our trailer in our driveway for only two weeks. It will get tested this time. I have no intention of moving it.
Your trailer can help isolate you or your loved ones in an emergency. Bring your trailer home if it is at another location. It can help you if your hospitals are full and you have nowhere to go. Where else would you want to be?
We have isolated ourselves from everyone. We feel comfortable doing this as we just got off a 6-month adventure. Do yourself a favor and do the same. The peak of this virus is coming in 2 to 3 weeks. It will come back down after that. Don't get caught out during the peak of the virus. Stay at home safe from infection. Wash your hands right now as you read this.
Many here are older and vulnerable to this virus. Don't take any chances. We came back from 6 months of travel and none of our neighbors were there to greet us. That was perfect! They all know. We know.
It is going to get very bad over the next three weeks. You do not want to be a statistic. If you have no protection, get your kids to do the shopping if you need food. Get your food now not two weeks from now.
I only say this as I know I would not survive this virus. My lungs were compromised years ago on a cruise ship with some bizarre respiratory virus that lasted three weeks. It left me scared. My doctor said to avoid all situations that might cause me to get sick and to get with him as quickly as I can if I feel a respiratory issue coming on.
We live in some very trying times.

Hi, we are being pretty safe. We do go for a walk, but keep a safe distance from others and they all do the same. I will run out of some food items that won't last for much more than a week. Do I go out and buy them? Do I just do with out? Or do I let my younger neighbors go to the store for us? My neighbors offered and almost insisted that we stay home and let them shop for us. Could they be carriers and so would I be safer going myself? I also told them that I would feel really bad if they got sick, going to the store for me, because they have three children and a dog to take care of. My wife buys too much frozen items so our in house refrigerator's freezer is stuffed. Our in the garage refrigerator's freezer is stuffed, and I even had to turn on my Safari refrigerator to put some stuff in it's freezer. This should last us for quite a while.
The local market has a pick up service and Costco has a delivery service, but neither one of them have mayonnaise, salad dressing, or Lactose free milk. This means that if I really want these things, I will have to go to the store to get them. So if I have to go to the store to get a few things, I might as well get everything at once.
I consider myself as healthy and tough. My wife, not as much, and we are both kind of old. This could be a gamble and the stakes are high.
I will read what other's say on this thread.

American's are getting pretty resourceful! I just learned that there is a company that can collect the used masks and through a process cleans them so they can be used again. They can process 80,000 masks a day.
I have a few n95 masks that I am going to reuse. One trip to the grocery store does not amount to wearing a mask all day in intensive care caring for patients.
Since we just came home from our long trip, my wife and I are still working on the Airstream. She has removed all bedding to the washer and we are removing all the food and cleaning products for use in our house. The trailer will get a thorough cleaning to prepare it if we need it during this time.

We also are trying to make the best of this down time. I have completed a few maintenance items and few more to go on the trailer. We want to be ready to bolt out the barn door when it opens. We try not to stay in the “ Valley of the sun” in the summer. Last year three days above 120 at Sky Harbor . Not good to be an aluminum Airstream with one 13,000 btu ac. Looking forward to happy hour with fellow RVers Stay home stay inside stay safe the road is waiting for the streamers [emoji1]

It's a pandemic, not a famine.
Glad you made it home safe and sound.
Just wanted to pass along some assurance. While some items like TP have been in short supply, this is wholly and completely due to hoarders, not because we have run out of trees (yet), production capacity, or delivery issues.
Food around here is plentiful and there is no danger of us running out. Again, any shortages are wholly and completely due to hoarders.
It is understandable that some may wish to limit the number of trips to the store in these times, but there is no need to stock up as if the supply chain is going to be cut off; it isn't.
Alternatively, for those who can, many restaurants are offering pick-up and delivery, often for free or for tips. We are trying to support these folks especially in these times, in fact eating "out" more than usual to help them out now. Personally, I am trying to order some particularly from a local Chinese buffet I frequent because as mainly a buffet, these folk's aren't getting the business they are used to, and I like Chinese food, and because of some unfortunate rhetoric out there that has resulted in some very nasty, shameful, un-American targeting of my fellow citizens due to their ethnic heritage. I really feel for these innocent, hard-working folks as much as for the medical professionals making such sacrifices now.
Guidelines suggest microwaving any such food ordered to zap any possible contagion, just in case.
Anything you get from the store, the guidelines do suggest to keep non-perishables out in the garage for a few days to let any possible contamination die off, then wipe off any packaging with disinfectant wipes and discard immediately after removing contents. Wash and refrigerate any perishables.

We're finding other non-Airstream related things to do in this time, primarily because Rocinante is stored in a facility that was forced to close due to the shelter-in-place order issued first by our county, and then tonight by our state. They are keeping the trailer safe and sound in its indoor storage location and we will keep on paying rent for that storage, but they can't provide access to our trailer for now because the order has forced them to close until further notice.

If you limit the time in the store, you limit your exposure. I suggest delivery of the bulk of your order and a quick trip to get necessities not delivered.
We are hunkering down like everyone else. I have discovered that curbside pickup may be booked 3-4 days out, but delivery arrives 4-6 hrs after placing our order. Our local Harps uses Instacart and the shopper texts for approval for any substitutions! Our AS has become the perfect HQ for DH working from home.
Praying for our nation, it’s leaders, medical and emergency personnel, truckers, and grocery, pharmacy, etc. employees. God bless the entrepreneurs coming up with creative solutions to problems and the scientists seeking treatments and vaccines. Stay safe everyone!

We've found the curbside grocery locations here only offer 2 days out. They are always fully booked. I will try at 12:01 AM to see if I can get in.
Delivery is non-existent here.
We did find that our local butcher shop is running full force and has not only meats, but cheeses, bread, and lots of bottled spices and sauces. You call in your order and 30 minutes later they call you back to come pick it up. They bring it to your car. Nice resource.
We also have a large farm market that will shop for you and bring your order to the car. Mostly fruits and vegetables but all fresh.
I'm filing some SBA paperwork today with my bank. I have to get shareholders to sign paperwork that I will be submitting to the bank. Our first meeting will be with shareholders in my driveway. I ask all to bring a pen! At the bank, we are meeting in the parking lot, kinda like a drug deal!

Glad you are home safely, turk. Although i have not tried the curbside service at our grocery, I went around 9 this morning, and Publix was well-stocked. I would say about 80% of the customers were wearing masks/gloves. I now carry a list of things I need, and stick to it. Trying to shop (quantity-wise) as though it’s a normal week.
Last Sunday I went to our WM to pickup a few things, and there was a small supply of tp tucked way back on one of the shelves. My routine is now to shop very early or right before the store closes. I have always been a fan of one-pot meals, and can find a lot of things to do with beans and rice (luckily we have both). We graze a lot less, and can do with a lot less. Before it gets too warm down here, i love my morning coffee and toast in Big Dreamer, sitting in our driveway!

While we shelter in place we do check on our Airstream at the storage shed once a week.
Sad to see spider webs due to lack of movement, but at least the spiders are getting some use out of the AS.

We are hunkered down at our home. Went to "Out of Africa" (Animal Park) this week and instead of walking to the animals we stayed in the car and drove from area to area. The staff was feeding some of the animals and chatting with us from a safe distance. It was a fun day.
We have a morning and an evening walk around the golf course which totals 5 to 6 miles per day. I got a round of golf in this week, had some good holes and a few not so good.
Next week it should warm up and I plan on installing a cell booster in the Airstream. The UPS guy has been dropping stuff on the stoop and I should have everything I need.
We will get past this and will learn from this experience. I am encouraged by the unselfish acts of our first respondents and all the people who are supporting others. I am very proud of my wife who has been putting together face masks for the past week.

We have been checking out the "Virtual On The Road Again" . . .
[ "VOTRA" ? ]
. . . and have been finding soothing webcams all over the world, like the attached sunrise and osprey action.
Family video chats on FaceTime and Zoom are filling in some of the voids too.
Happy trails exploring the brave new world's virtual roads,

So far we have not eaten any carryout foods in two months. From what I understand, they are fairly safe (unless the chef is sick!). So I've been reluctant to do this.
One food that does seem to be a very safe option is carried out pizza (no driver please!). Set your oven to 400 degrees, drive off to pick up your pizza (curbside pickup of course) and when you get home, take it out of the box in the garage and throw it in the oven for 5 minutes to reheat and sanitize.
Pizza shops are now professing the pizza never gets touched by human hands. They don't even slice it for you.
When I get tired of cooking, I might try this!

We moved into our new home last week. Most of our stuff is still in boxes, which are scattered throughout the house and garage. We downsized, so there is a bunch of furniture in the garage for Goodwill, which is closed. Fortunately, the AS is parked in the new RV garage because the rv fridge is all we have right now. We’ve ordered a new fridge by the Covid thing has delayed it. We hear we “might” get our a Fridge next a Friday. We have been going for groceries occasionally, and getting take out.
Our getting take out experience has been good, we throw out the containers, wash our hands, Lysol the door knobs etc, and so far, we have no symptoms. One of our restaurants is providing a free meal for every paid meal for unemployed people and we want to support that. And their food is fabulous.
We just made our first Costco shipping order, their two day service is taking 6 days. And we ordered pickup from our local Kroger’s, we have a pickup slot for next Friday evening. For the last two days there were no pickup slots available. This morning I’m going to a produce stand for some veggies. Trying times for sure.

The Things We Learn.....
I got a lesson in glove removal from our daughter. She pointed out that the way most people take off gloves is not the way to go. Assume the outside of the gloves is contaminated.
Dirty to dirty - with one hand, pinch up the palm of the other glove and pull it off, turning it inside out as you do so.
Clean to clean - then, with your clean hand, slip a a couple fingers under the glove on your other hand, pinch the glove from the inside, and pull it off, also turning it inside out as you go. Then, holding the gloves by the clean insides, discard them.
I was doing it wrong....

DW is an RN. I got trained on that and proper hand washing years ago. 20 seconds seems to be forever but it works.

Hi Rich, sorry you've damaged an ankle. You shouldn't be leaping off tall buildings or Airstreams. It will heal, most likely, and I hope you're not suffering too much.
I was a runner, started running at 50, worked up to 18 miles, never had a problem with my knees like most people said I would. One day after I finished cutting the grass I took my shoes off and was going up a couple steps to the house, lost my balance and stepped off (not fell off) the second step to the garage floor. I heard what sounded like a pencil breaking. I was in a boot like yours for a while, maybe 5 or 6 weeks. Two years after that I ran a marathon. So you'll heal up, just watch your step from now on.
