Has Airstream Plant returned to Work

In an early letter from Airstream,it said the Airstream Factory was to going back to work on April 6th.

I have 2020 Classic 33 on order. it was supposed to ship in May.

Has anyone heard if the plant has gone back to work?

I do know the service department is open. We have an appointment June 8th.

Jackson Center is a very Small town and is out in Nowhere USA. I would be surprised if they have a real problem with the virus. Bringing their work crew back could be managed if they are careful. But we live in a state that has a governor who started the "stay at home" requirement. He's tough on Virus!

Our appointment was next week. Service called last week and said they would call or email to reschedule.

Except for folks bringing the virus in?

. . . or is that possibility not on anyone's radar?

My thoughts exactly......their workforce exceeds the villages capacity....the other villages might as well be NYC with all the gas stations, Walmart etc....

Not exactly a recipe for success and distancing.

Our appointment at JC was scheduled for next week. Last week we decided to reschedule to early August, primarily because ZipDee is closed and they couldn't confirm whether the ZipDee parts would be delivered. JC was all set to do the other work planned, but we didn't want to make two trips. Not happy about changing our plans, but better to wait and few months and hope all is better by late summer.

I follow a lot of long distance hiking sites and it is amazing how many people complain that local communities are not welcoming them this year. Travelers forget that THEY are the problem. Not the small communities that will be infected by them.

Sorry, but with the number of people dying around the world, being concerned about my trailer seems awfully selfish if there is a chance I could be the cause of someone losing a loved one.

There are 17 Coronavirus cases in Shelby County Ohio, where Jackson Center is located. While that is not a lot, it means that Jackson Center is not removed from the problem. They may just be slower to develop than major cities.
Interesting that 70% of the cases in Shelby County are women.

I read an article just yesterday Airstream is busy sewing surgical clothing and face masks. Be a while before they fill that order. 😷

Stay well, stay strong.

Factory

I know the Terra Port is closed by the county we have a May service date if that does not open we will have to reschedule.

As of yesterday the factory was still closed. Right about now I'd feel better with my new trailer inside the new Airstream factory vs out on the road getting transported.

How many ventilators do they have in JC? Do you want to take one that may be needed by a local?

Plant

We had a 2020 AS on order but cancelled it, not due directly to the Virus. My guess based on a conversation with the dealer is that those scheduled for 2020 AS will instead get a 2021 as the model year changes in June sometime. Prices on orders will be the same, at least at our dealer as he offered to keep it on order for us. Again, this is a guess and having experience in plant closure situations this is what we would have done where I was the GM.

Good luck to all. And happy Streaming when you get back out.

I totally agree with the stay at home order, I was scheduled for repair at David Mastins shop several weeks ago, he has received the check from ins company and I was going to take the unit to him but he is in sort of a hot spot above Richmond, and one I do not want to expose myself being 78, second, I would not want to transmit any infections, so we are on a wait and see, We are so far virus free in Floyd Co but it is probably just a matter of time till that changes, I pray that the Airstream family stays safe, Labalope
