Favorite Camping Photos: Reminiscing and thinking forward

These days most of us can't camp now, in part due to public campground closures, shelter in place orders, and so on. So, why not post a photo of one of your favorite campsites, tell us a little about it, and where you'd most like to go camping once things get closer to normal again?

One point of order: this thread is NOT about the virus, per-se, etc., etc. Please don't go there. Just share your great experiences and something you'd like to do when it subsides and we can all go camping again.

Here's ours:
This is a shot of our campsite at Bay of Fundy National Park, in New Brunswick, Canada. This is lovely campground, even in the absence of hookups. While it wasn't strictly boondocking, it was certainly dry camping. As you can see from the attached photo, we camped right out in the sun, where our solar panels did a great job keeping our batteries happy. Temps were warm but moderate, so we had no trouble staying cool by opening windows and running Fantastic Fans as needed. Best part about this park is that there is so much to see in the surrounding area. From here we made day trips up to Hopewell Rocks, and we took a few hikes within the Fundy park along the dramatic coastline. We wish we had also visited Cape Enrage, and may do so if we go there again. Two things definitely on our list for the future are to get out to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia, which we missed on this particular trip.

OH to NH Caravan Trip

We did this trip with friends, two other couples. It was in June of 2018. Hoping to do it again this year but we will see how that plays out. This trip was a blast and we did a lot touring & sightseeing. We stayed at four diffenrt campgrounds the highlights beingt a couple of nights at Salisbury State Park Beach Campground in Salisbury, MA and several night at Jigger Johnson Campground (boondocking) on the Kancamagus Hwy which cuts right through the NH White Mountains. We all did the Cog Railroad trip up Mount Washington as a group. I highly recommend this experience. I did it with my parents oh so many years ago when I was 13. I spent a good part of my life in NH before relocating to the Cincinnati, OH area and I still have family up there in NH so I go back every so often to visit. This picture was at a great private campground call Saddleback in Northwood, NH where we spent a couple of nights and visited the Manchester, NH area before heading to Jigger Johnson, our favorite campground of the trip. We did a lobster boil one evening while at JJ Campground. This trip was a lot of fun.
Not sure how to rotate this image.

Great new thread, thanks!

We made it to PEI on the ferry in the early 90's with the old 25' Sovereign. Imagine it is still lovely. The ocean has the warmest salt water north of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, because the Gulf Stream touches PEI before it bends eastward toward Ireland. Great swimming in the summer!

Hopefully you will be heading that way some day, and can post stories and photos.

Happy trails,

Peter

Glacier National Park. Apgar CG spot B96. We were here after Labor Day a few years ago. Met up with some friends and just had the best time. It was one of those times you wished could go on forever.

We'll share another photo, this time from the Manzanita Lake Campground in Lassen Volcanic National Park. We zipped in and out of this park for an overnight stop on our way south from the Seattle area to the Las Vegas area where we later met some friends for their first ever RV camping trip (they got a rental unit from Cruise America). We came into Lassen from the east and went out the same way the next morning. Given we barely saw the park and how much we liked this campground, it is definitely on our list for a repeat visit someday. Next time, we want to actually see the park and enjoy camping there a few days, maybe even a week.
