Our first Airstream, the 22fb. We spent a week in this RV park near Phelps, NY, while visiting family in the area. I liked this park a lot. Quiet, GREEN, lots of elbow room. First time in my life to park on wet grass and not get stuck or leave ruts, I'm more used to sandy soils that would drop you to the floorpan were you foolish enough to drive on it.The sites were level and firm, with full hookups. It was October, so the only bugs to contend with were boxelder bugs looking for hideyholes.

LOL, yes, I think some people missed the point of your original post. There's already a "campsite picture" thread going:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...cs-174884.html

This is supposed to be memories and future outings. Please elaborate, folks, don't just give us a photo and the name of the campsite. Please don't "flame" me for saying all this, just trying to get the thread back on track.

Thumbs up

Well done, Alan, to post a link to that "Campsite Pics" thread, which is really fun to scroll through, as one researches possible places to go next. Here's the link again:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...cs-174884.html

There are similarly interesting "photo" threads, with various focal points:

Cape San Blas, Florida

Two photos of our Airstream sitting Gulf front, on Pelican Dunes RV Lot on Cape San Blas, in the Florida Panhandle.

.....when we're free to travel again, looking forward to heading up to the Canadian Maritimes and taking the ferry over to Grand Manan.

Hey thanks, it is! Along the way I got to ride SlickRock Moab on a rented e-mtn bike one day (and it was awesome!) so I'm going to add one of those to my quiver in anticipation of future adventures...

While returning from South Dakota in September, I didn't want to go home yet.
So I stopped for a few days at the "Land Between the Lakes", Hillman Ferry Campground. This is site C-7, large flat and hardly any people nearby. Hillman Ferry has 360 spots, It's huge. There's a small village at the north end, and the grocery had the absolutely best potato salad I've ever tasted.
There is also a lot of dispersed camping, which I drove past, but the roads looked iffy, and there was no cell service.
The LbL is the result of a TVA project, damming the Tennessee and Green Rivers with Hydro Plants. It created Kentucky lake and Lake Barkley. Beautiful.

My driveway near Big Timber Montana........

This past September in my driveway near Big Timber Montana.....pretty quiet out her only two neighbors within ten miles. Lots of room and one of our favorite campsites for visits from folks with Airstreams.

Camping memories

This was taken at City of Rocks State Park in NM last winter. We spent last Winter traveling between Arizona and NM for the most part, boondocking as much as we could. It was a little colder than what we had hoped but we met a lot of really cool people and enjoyed the high desert beauty a lot. City of Rocks was exactly how it sounded from its name, mostly no hookups which is where we are in this picture, but nice showers(although not much hot water) and beautiful hiking. We are full time and currently safe and sound in a nice RV park in Longview, TX, but thinking about the SW a lot during this period of hitch itch.

We came into Lassen from the east and went out the same way the next morning. Given we barely saw the park and how much we liked this campground, it is definitely on our list for a repeat visit someday. Next time, we want to actually see the park and enjoy camping there a few days, maybe even a week.
We spent several days there in the late 80s. It was our first RV camping trip, and probably the trigger for us now having an Airstream. We flew in from FL and rented from CruiseAmerica at SFO. When we got to Lassen there was no one at the gate. The ranger came out on his front porch, did a double-take, and came over to the gate. He said "How did you know we were open? We just opened yesterday." I said "We didn't know you were closed." They don't open the park until the road from one end of the park past the summit to the other end is clear of snow. Our site looked out between two trees to the summit. Great memories of travel with the kids.

Seems like a lifetime ago. We had no idea what was to be in store in just a few short weeks. Looking forward to Airstrmn again. Not sure how the pics got rotated or how to correct?
