Yosemite Pause

According to this San Diego Union article, Yosemite NP is hitting the Pause button on further campground reopenings:

https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com...virus-concerns

The Yosemite NP site does not have the specifics yet, that I can see:

6,500+ new cases in California today.

Pausing campground reopenings is probably just the beginning.

We got away after six months to spend four days at an RV park in Morro Bay, CA. In a week or so we’re going up the Oregon coast. Some state parks are open with limited reservation times (one day to two weeks before arrival). Private parks are open and seem easy to get into with a little effort.

Just got back from two weeks in Oregon. By and large all the state parks we visited were fully occupied. Hardly a mask in sight. We stayed out of the public bathroom's. It was easy to maintain social distancing.

Heading out next week for Wyoming. Will be boondocking and staying at HH locations. Have masks, will travel.
On another note, we stopped at Babler State Park (near St Louis MO) yesterday on the way home from the farm, we were pulling the AS, and wanted to use the dump station there. Instead of only taking cash for the $10 dump station fee, they now only take plastic.
Also, the campground, which is fairly large, was “full”. No sites available. I think they are keeping it far less than full, for obvious reasons.
We’ve spent a lot of nights in our AS up at the farm, but I’m really looking forward to being back at elevation, and away from the heat and humidity of Missouri. Might even get to sit next to a campfire..

Totally off subject, but we did wear masks. We stayed at Harvest Host spot in Billings MT a few days ago. (Yellowstone Winery). It’s in town, but was quiet. Their wine was fantastic. Highly recommended if you’re going through Billings. He (Clint) just started as a HH site a few weeks ago. We ended up staying up a little later than our norm, and bought a case of wine. Someone last week staying as a HH member bought 10 cases and had them shipped home.

Not off the subject at all. It actually is the subject. Montana is a big state with a small population. Their C19 numbers are small, but with visitors back in the state, those numbers are increasing. My brother is currently working through the wait for testing results on his daughter's work environment and she/kids were tested on a prior contact trace. Montana is serious about keeping folks safe. If you visit, be serious as well.

Note - wear a mask everywhere you travel. It is the responsible way to RV. Pat

Yep. We didn’t go inside. Sat on the patio. One other group was at the other end, and our server had on her mask. We did the same in WY. Folks were happy to see us out there. (Spending tourist $$). But we know we represent a risk to them.
I was surprised at the smaller crowd in Yellowstone. Only one traffic jam in the whole park where the buffalo were very close to the road. Drove the speed limit almost the whole way.

Yep GA - Since the staffing is down this year, it's good to hear that there is less visitor chaos for them to address. Pat

South Fork, Creede, Del Norte, Pagosa Springs all requires mask [emoji40]. The hot springs in Pagosa Springs was open and the river had a lots of folks tubing. Not many’s masks were seen in or near the water or in the pools at the Springs. Pagosa Springs today has heavy traffic and lots of folks walking around. Some has masks. Lots of the shops were open.

Sedona roadtrip 2021

In November we're wanting to celebrate my spouse's 70th birthday in Sedona with our 16' Bambi, traveling from Lawrence, KS to Sedona, quite probably taking the Route 66 way. How far in advance should we book reservations @ campsites? Any suggestions on which campsites to use?? Thanks in advance!!

As far in advance as possible IMO.

Suggest that you start a new thread about this trip, in the "On The Road" forum:

https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42/

Check out the Thread names for good examples of how to "headline" your new thread.

For instance here is a recent one on Sedona campgrounds: https://www.airforums.com/forums/f42...nds-31927.html

Have a great trip!
