Vespa on the back of 19cb?

I'd love to take my Vespa LX150 with us on our trips, so convenient for short trips to groceries, etc.
Anyone do this?
220 lbs is not that much but too heavy to lift into the back of the of our Ford F150.
Ideas?

We looked at this and decided that two Vespas added too much weight. We compromised and bought two Segway Ninebot Kickscooter MAX scooters. They weight 42 lbs each, they have a 40 mile range between charges, and they’re fully electric so we can put them inside the trailer when we tow and not worry about gasoline fumes.

The only viable way to carry a Vespa is on a front receiver.

I would not that’s a lot of weight on the back end of a small trailer, assuming it fits in the bed and payload works, have looked at ramps?

If you can find the photo's, Wally Byam had a simple ramp mounted on the front of his tow vehicle (International Travelall..) and traveled with a Vespa on the front during his caravans.. A good hitch shop can mount a front receiver and reinforce it to hold the Vespa.. May need to adjust positioning to be sure headlights not completely blocked, and perhaps limit night-time driving...

Having perused this site for a spell, conventional wisdom indicates throwing weight on to the rear bumper, or rear end, of an Airstream is not a good idea.

Weight on the rear bumper may cause sway by putting a lot of weight behind the wheels, and may damage the frame and cause rear-end separation. The front bumper sounds like a good option though.

Yeah, should have addressed that.. Considered bad idea to hang heavy weight on rear of trailer because:
1. Frames not designed for heavy weight leveraged out 10'+ from axles
2. Heavy rear weight can lighten hitch ball weight and lead to swaying
3. Since shell is rigid, and frame flexing means frame/shell separation along rear bumper joint, leading to risk of water leaks damaging wood sub-floor


Folks who study all specs with magnifying glass argue even a lightweight bicycle and carrier are too much for rear frame, though that really depends on frame rail sizes, trailer length, hitch type and bike type, plus kinds of roads you are driving on..

I have a Boosted Rev which will go 24mph uphill. I've got 1300 miles on it.

Wow, that’s a beast! The Segways that we have are rated for a max speed of 18.6 mph on flat ground. I see 22 - 23 mph going downhill, but only 14 - 15 mph going uphill. We use them more for recreational cruising around campgrounds, or to scoot into town if it’s not terribly far. My wife and I tried to use them yesterday to head into Ouray, CO near our campsite, but the gravel pathway was a little too rough so we walked.

Ive seen modifications that will allow the Segway to hit nearly 30 mph (bigger motor, bigger battery), but I think that might actually be a little scary!

Front receiver is the way to go. I have a Kawasaki 250 on it. Towing with a Tacoma long bed and am doing the same soon to our Ram 2500 diesel, We pull a 2012 23 FB.
