Recent experience buying a new Bambi or Caravel?

Hello Airstreamers!

Curious if anyone recently purchased a Bambi or Caravel and was able to get a discount off MSRP. I know that typical discount is between 15%-20% but in these Covid-19 times and a renewed appreciation to camping and road-travel, is a discount now still possible?

Not sure what the negotiation was like since my spouse did it, but before fees and taxes we landed at $66,277 for a Caravel 20FB (base MSRP $68,200) but with all three options (convection, awnings, solar). I'm not sure on the pricing for each of the options, but I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up approaching that margin.

<edit: I did the math for 10-15% not %15-20 so probably not that high of a discount, but demand is through the roof, so the dealers have the leverage. Still, I'm ok with the price we got>

Dealer is in Western PA (we are in Pittsburgh) and once they got the factory order confirmed they listed it on their website. We called and when we heard that the delivery was slated for mid-October (as opposed to Jan-Mar which is what we were hearing from the larger, more nationally known dealers) we jumped on it. We'll see how it goes...

We're pumped to join you all in the AS Community!

We sold our 2018 Basecamp with tents , ac and solar for $38k and found a 2021 Caravel 16’ fully loaded for $59k during CCP Virus. Couldn’t believe the Caravel was available for pick up. Purchased from Foley RV in Gulfport MS. Also couldn’t believe the price. Well pleased all the way around.

Just purchased a Caravel, they did discount off of MSRP. No inventory, hard to view an actual unit. Due to current conditions I would say it's not a buyers market. Good luck. They are saying a 6 month wait for our trailer.

We ordered a Bambi 16RB and got about 16% off MSRP. I contacted four dealers and gave everyone the same specs. Delivery will be sometime between April to June which is fine with us. Don't have to worry about winter storage.

Darnit. I just bought the 2021 Caravel 16 in Northern California - didn’t get a nickel off MSRP. Another buyer at the dealer had just bought a Globetrotter and also told me he paid MSRP. Where did you buy your Bambi?

We talked to airstream of Chicago, woodland Airstream in MI, and Paul Arbogast RV in OH. We did not hear back from Colonial In NJ, and sales at Wahlberg in Columbus OH likewise didn’t respond. The first three were responsive and competitive. We went with Arbogast. I don’t pay MSRP on any sort of vehicle and that includes Airstreams. Quite frankly, I’d encourage you to find another dealership.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I decided to purchase the Airstream Basecamp 20x instead as it would fit better with our needs. I was able to get 10% off MSRP with the tent option ($2K value). I also was able to get storage space at the dealership at a good price. Overall, I would recommend Airstream Orange County.

I was quoted 9% off MSRP on a Caravel 16RB with solar and awnings.
