Here’s a message I got from a lady who just got a brand new 16’ Bambi in March.
“I bought it new in March. We immediately kept hearing the brakes lock up on and on, like metal screeching. it was incredibly scary! After a visit to the dealership, they suggested I get a different brake controller, but when they installed it, the noise was still there. They were trying to act cool, but I could tell were shocked by what they saw..... turns out that the brakes were not connected properly and one side wasn’t even connected at all!! ”
Wow

You can put little covers on those hinges so they don't release.
We have them all over the trailer.

Mythbuster, thanks for the tip. I looked at some clips on line, then found some zip ties in the garage. Haven't had an issue since.

Looks like with the 90W roof solar panel and partly cloudy weather we can easily get 2 nights with our compressor fridge (NovaCool) and heat at night. We’re headed next to Galveston, then home, and I’ll order another 90W portable panel. When we’re going to be off grid more than 2 nights i’ll pack the generator, just in case. We have a rescue conure (bird) which requires warmth at night. Without the heat at night we could probably easily get 3 nights (no heavy shade) some stress on Lifeline batteries. We had an ammonia frig. (larger) on our previous RV and because of the fan (TX humidity) not that much difference in battery usage. Time will tell if the advantage of a compressor fridge (instant cool) outweigh the other.

Love our new 16ft Caravel and from the response we’re getting on the road, and like our last RV, will be an easy sell in the future if we decide to make a change.

Our experience with the TV, JB, Blue Ray is the same as others that have posted.

Thanks again.
We travel with a conure.

Our minimum inside temp is around 50F and our entire electrical system upgrade is to be able to run the heater several days with no hookups, no sun and no generator.

We also enjoy the endless trailer upgrades. Just about everything can be improved. Sometimes it has to done because of the poor AS build Other times it is just fun to do.

Examples:
Changing the color of the LEDs was fun, easy, and cheap.
Stereo/TV upgrade was fun. harder, not cheap.
Water tank repair was not fun, difficult, expensive.

Not sure about the 19 but we love our 16. It’s perfect for two ppl and the bed area is surprisingly separate and private from the dinette. Finally, the windows on the front and back provide a spectacular view.

We have a caravel 16 and are also thinking about changing the led lights. Any suggestions on what type of bulbs we need?

If your lights are like my lights don't change the bulbs rather add some color with photo gel. I'll send some links. This is a standard upgrade by the AS crowd.

Or just use the search thing.

Thanks Robert Cross (forum member) for this idea. Sometimes its the simple things.

It’s fall again and the leaves are beginning to fall in Dallas.

Here is a simple mod to keep leave from accumulating between your front Caravel window & window protector (sunglasses). Helps keep your front windows clean. All that is requiring is a 6ft piece of 3/4” Pipe Insulation from the Home Depot (1000 031 791). The insulation comes with an adhesive strip or not. I preferred the non-adhesive and after travel it is still in place.

Tips

Hi all, two tips we would like to share as they were surprises and officially solved:

We were driving down the highway and someone flagged us down. We keep the awning hook tool in the bumper and it had wiggled out of the rain gap and was dragging on the ground. We now keep our hitch lock levelers etc in front of it so it wont slide out.

We heard a dripping at night but only when hooked up to city water. I had checked the outside connection and it looked dry. We had gone from cold to warm weather. We removed the sink drawer and saw the drip was coming from the city connection, but from the inside! All it took to fix was a quarter turn to the right and it stopped. Hopefully it wasnt enough to damage the floor or anything else.

Some of these QC items are concerning. Waiting for ours, hope no issues. Seems they are rushing units out ?

I sold my 16' for 2019 Flying Cloud 19CBB for a few reasons: bigger kitchen/rec area in 19' where the wetbath took up too much area in 16'.The bi-fold door makes the area look bigger as well. It looks just right with 19' on outside. More room outside under bigger awning.

To be clear a second Zamp 90 will not fit on the 2020 Caravell 16.

oh well I read the whole thing... its not the issue that I could read but that I do not have the memory that you all have. got a BTI issue. Just can't remember what yall already said. It becomes an exhausting time for me to reread everything. time consuming so I usually post something, hoping that I did not forget something that was already mentioned. BTI from football if you wanted to know.

I just ordered a 16 ft Caravel, delivery projected in May. I found your post very interesting and informative. Gives me a good list of things to look for when it comes in.

Now that you have had it for a while any updates? Your advice is appreciated!

Camping on S Padre Island, Tx. Just watched the spectacular SpaceX launch and they stuck the landing. Then it blew up. Our 16 ft Caravel is perfect! Enjoy.
