Just Got a 2021 Caravel 16

I took delivery of my 2021 Caravel last week and am loving it. I initially had issues as my TV (Volvo XC 90 w tow package) did not support a 2 and 5/16 inch tow ball which is required to tow the airstream.

I finally broke down and got a Ram 1500 limited which makes towing a joy.

I also got two 90 w solar panels and two lithium batteries. Excited to see how long I can boondock on that set up.

The airstream wasnít cheap (I paid MSRP as the dealer would not negotiate) but Iím super satisfied w my purchase so far.

Iíll try and post updates and pics as I take to the open road.

Welcome to the Airstream family.

Did you order it with the lithium battery upgrade or had the upgrade done after delivery?

I am interested to learn what you think as I am thinking along the same lines. Did you purchase sight unseen? That would make me nervous. I can only see 5 places that have any in stock, none are closer than 600 miles away from me in Denver, so I think I will wait until spring.

They had a Bambi 16 and I was so impressed i ordered the y 16 sight unseen. But if it came in and i didnít like it, i would have got a refund of my deposit.

They kept my deposit . . .

I had it done by the dealer. I think thatís the only way to get it installed.

I just bought my 2021 Bambi 19CB technically sight unseen but was not disappointed. I can't even count the number of times I watched a YouTube video done by Coloniel Airstream in NJ which made me feel as if I had seen it myself. It was a 45 minute video that went through the entire unit front to back, inside and out. I actually think this video prepared me more than the actual orientation I got when I picked it up which was itself extremely thorough. I purchased mine in New Mexico and could not be happier!

I always thought Patrick deserves a kickback on lots of Airstream sales.

Yup, Patrick pretty much sold me on buying the Airstream sight unseen. Airstream should give their entire marketing budget to that guy.

Congrats!

I pretty much did the same, but got a 20í Caravel after waiting 3 months for the factory to build it. 16í just felt too small for weeklong trips. The most fun besides Harvest Hosts and the parks is shopping for it. My Amazon/other purchases have been on fire: EasyStart to be able to use 2200 Yamaha generator, Airstream Connect, Fiama bike rack, CGear mat, Flojet macerator pump for dumping at home, Outland fire bowl, DVDs!, Chromecast with Google TV for streaming, LevelMate Pro+, Coghlan collapsible trash can, rug that runs the length of the trailer, and Lafuma Sphinx Sunbrellaģ Butterfly Lounge Chairs. What did you all get?

I have been towing a 2019 Flying Cloud 20FB with a 2017 XC70 for over a year, full-time. What’s with the Ram truck? You just needed to take your XC 90 to someone who knows trailer hitches. A Volvo is a lot safer than a truck. Ever seen collision videos on YouTube between Volvos and trucks? The Volvos alway win. I saw a head on collision between a Volvo XC70 and a semi. Both vehicles were totaled, but the Volvo driver survived. Try that with a RAM anything. Just a note: I love Rams, but I would rather get in a collision while driving a Volvo, or not at all would be nice also. CanAm in London, Ontario did our hitch setup. Enjoy your Caravelle.
