Water pump indicator light mystery...

The water pump "on" indicator light had never worked since we purchased our trailer new. I just figured it must be a faulty unit. The other day I decided to take a look and I discovered the white wire from the SeeLevel harness (meant to be jumpered to the switch) neatly folded back and bundled with the other wires and secured by electrical tape. It had never been stripped and this appears to have been intentionally done. I can't think of a reason why the factory would do this??
I kind of like having that little light as a reminder that the pump is on

My guess is that was the condition it was left in after all the wiring was installed. For some reason, oops, it was not connected in at the same time as the rest of that bundle. Given that it is only a feedback light, I also guess everything passed QA since the pump and the monitor display worked..
So I would say the only intentional part was that the wire was where it should have been, the rest was oversight.

Very cool that you figured it out and fixed it. I bet it feels pretty good to see that light on now.

Interesting. I didn’t even know there was a light there!

I may do that too. How did you connect it?

I just put a new crimp spade connector on the side of the pump switch with the single/red wire -- crimping the white wire in together with the red wire.
Much simpler that the way I just described it

On my 2018 28ft international, I took it back to the dealer because the light didn't work. Dealer explained that the light comes on only momentarily when first turn on then goes off. If the water heater is not coming on the light comes on and stays on as a warning.

Sorry everyone, I read that first line as water heater instead of water pump. My bad.

I found that in May 2020 and the dealer told me that it was supposed to be like that because all the others where like that. The video for Airstream showed the light working. I found the diagram on the Seelevel web site. It was when I was having problems with my 12v breakers.

You should have posted what you found out back in May (maybe you did and I just couldn't find it ) and it would have saved me some time!

Ha! You jogged my memory, and I just found your private message that very clearly tells me about that mysterious white wire! I'm the one who should be apologizing! Thanks

I’ve been camping for the last couple of weeks and I’ve been on city water, so I haven’t used the water pump. I switched it on today after thinking about this thread, only to find out that the green light already works in my International. I’m surprised I hadn’t noticed this before. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
