Swap Copenhagen Cream for Dublin Slate Upholstery

Hi everyone,

We are brand new owners of a 2021 Globetrotter 27F, picking it up next week.

We fell in love with the Dublin Slate model, but didn't want to wait until May for a new order and found one in Dark Walnut Copenhagen Cream.

If there is anyone out there that would like to replaced the lounge / dinette upholstery for the Copenhagen Cream option, please let us know.

Otherwise, would anyone know if changing the fabric is a big job. The cushions should not be an issue, but the backrests seem mounted in?

It would be a huge job. The seat backs are not easily removed and the upholstery is fastened behind them. Globetrotters do not come apart like other airstreams.

Stef, welcome to the Airstream Community and Forums!

GMFL is spot-on regarding the effort required to swap the upholstery. We originally ordered our 27' GT with Dark Walnut & Copenhagen Cream then second-guessed our choice due to our Cairn Terrier. Luckily for us, we were allowed to change before it went into production to Dublin Slate.

My suggestion would be to give it a try as the upholstery is quite tough and cleans up easily. We're on our 2nd Airstream, moving up from a 23' Flying Cloud. Who knows, it might grow on you and if not, you could always swap it for another.

Thank you for your answers. It finally arrived at the dealership and I went to see it. The Copenhagen Cream is much darker in real life than it is in the brochure, it is more of a coffee cream than white - I was actually pleasantly surprised so we will keep it as it is for now

Did yours come with the Tuft & Needle mattress? Ours seems more of a regular memory foam one.

Double-check with Airstream/your Dealer about the mattresses. I remember reading the Tuft & Needle mattresses were back ordered and Airstream was delivering trailers with standard ones until they could be replaced.

Ours came with Tuft & Needle and we’re very happy with them. Big improvement over the one we had with our previous 2018 23’ Flying Cloud.

I just compared the 2020 and the 2021 brochures, and the 2021 is advertised with a AdaptaFlex Memory Foam mattress. So I guess they are not partnering with Tuft&Needle anymore.

I was told the same by Airstream of DFW... it wasn’t a back order issue, they change to Adaptaflex. We took delivery in September... it is a good and comfortable mattress.

Like the Dublin slate but the Cream sure "lightens it up".

Those of you with the cream, is it hard to keep from staining up? Do you wish you went darker?

Those with the Dublin, do you feel it makes it more of a "cave" or are you happy with it?

I think it's all a matter of taste. We liked both but went with Dublin Slate. Never for a moment felt it was dark inside with all the windows.

We had the Copenhagen Cream for a week now and we actually love it. We added various grey pillows and a darker charcoal coloured runner rug. The hitch upholstery material is fantastic, you can clean it so fast with a damp rag.

What are your thoughts on the new two piece/post dinette table? I am thinking about converting the single pedestal single tabletop to have a more flexible use of space with the ability to create a U shaped setup like yours. Thanks

So far we love the U-shape sofa, however it is too small for two people to work - which then requires adding the second leg + table, pushing the drawers in and storing the upholstery piece. We changed the set up 3 times in a day, not sure how many more time we want to do it

Thanks! How sturdy is the tabletop when separated and supported by just one leg? If it’s possible could you post a picture setup as the U dinette? Also is there any company branding on the pedestal legs/base assembly?

It is sturdy, but you have to connect the two table tops underneath with two latches. If you don't screw both legs in correctly, one section is higher than the other. The legs are unbranded aluminum, with tons of warning stickers on them that we will remove. It's a little too much work to be honest, but see the photo below, it looks awesome.

I have been sweating about that table. We have the 2021 25' on order and I love that design and have been praying they don't discontinue it. I have seen some pics from AS which made me question the place we are getting it that it does have that still.

Downhill502, I was thinking about that as well. I found the base here and table legs here (hot links).

Those add up since you need two of each. Another idea I’m experimenting with is to use the existing telescoping leg and moving it towards the galley enough to clear your legs if you’re sitting against the window. The photo below is where the base sits as-is before moving it forward.

I’d make a new two-piece top that would separate so you can use it like the new style. I made one out of Curley Cherry for our 23’ FC so time to make another.

Great minds [emoji23] and thank you for the links! I actually made a wooden crossmember filler for that cushion and was thinking the same thing to just move the pedestal forward, then utilize a sliding tabletop mount for added flexibility.
Very curious as to what the condition of the floor will be once moved from the current pedestal position.

Also, can you share a photo of that wooden crossmember you made? Sounds interesting...
