Maybe just glue it on?

I had to remove it once to retrieve my short hose that had found it's way to the other end. My AS salesman asked me why I didn't grab it with my awning hook. Sometimes you just can't think of everything.

So, is the OP talking about having difficulty with the cap at this link?
https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-A04-...71&sr=8-2&th=1

And if yes, is John Ware saying that THIS cap at THIS link is a good replacement?
https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-A04-...71&sr=8-3&th=1

And if I'm right so far, has anyone actually installed this fix? And does it fit and fix satisfactorily.
I have lost both a sewer hose and a nice set of walking sticks from this compartment and am really tired of using good old duct tape to keep it secured. It would be a nice way to store, say a rolled up ground mat, especially if wet.

Yes, PatLee, that's it as long as it comes with the sleeve as sold by ETrailer.com. Ck out their video on it.
They sell the sleeve and end cap together with the same part number that you have. I'll have to get my son to show me how to include a link someday.
I looked again at the Amazon site and one reviewer said that the sleeve comes with it.

If I understand this correctly, according to the eTrailer website, this cap only works with the EZ Hose Carrier manufactured after October 2019: "Vented, quarter-turn, twist-lock cap with rubber strap replaces 1 worn or damaged cap on your Valterra EZ hose carrier manufactured after October 2019."

So based on that information this cap is not a replacement cap for my 2018 GT hose carrier, unfortunately.

PatLee, you better measure the inner and outer diameters of your tube because this thing may only fit the adjustable model hose carrier. Sorry if I steered you in the wrong direction. I measured mine and I think it will fit.

Not sure about the vibration factor, and I guess you would have to be careful to not over tighten.

The “Stand clear while in use” warning on the item seems relevant to the question you pose! 💦 💩

Ignore my above post as i misunderstood the OP question thinking he wished to use it to connect waste dump hose to the sewer.

I drilled a hole through the cap and tube while the cap was fully fastened in place. Then inserted a cotter pin to secure it. Easy to remove and replace each time I use it. Very secure.

Didn’t realize other end of storage tube had a similar cap. I will do the same procedure on the curb side ASAP.

Did you drill the hole at an angle? Otherwise I don't understand how you could drill a hole thru both to insert a pin.

Thanks!

This is for the black/grey water drain, I believe question is for the actual sewer hose storage tube cap. By the way, i have one of these(F02-3106BK) installed & they make it much easier to open black/grey water drain.

I replaced the factory cap the OP mentioned, with the replacement cap shown in Post #3 above. The new cap is much easier to use and takes a carabiner to make sure it stays closed on the highway.

Two notes about the replacement project. First, the old cap did not want to come off as easily as some folks have mentioned in other threads. Not being lucky, I had to take a grinder to it (slowly, so as not to melt the plastic). Then there is the fact that the two caps have different "depths". That is, the portion of the cap that slips over the pipe is different for the two caps. I was just about to glue the new cap onto the pipe when I thought to measure it. If I had pushed the new cap all the way onto the pipe, and glued it, the mounting holes in the new cap would NOT align with the holes in the bottom of my Airstream. So I applied the glue once I was under the Airstream and could line up the original mounting holes and the new cap.

I know some people have just cut the pipe and old cap off, but using that method I would have to drill new mounting holes. And I didn't want to do that.

I should note that I took the whole assembly off to work on it. And as far as the curbside cap, I just put a dab of glue on it to hold it in place.
