I have one of those nu-wave induction burners. Use it more than the cantankerous convection microwave. Both are power hogs and an induction burner heats water for coffee faster than the microwave. I would appreciate a propane oven for baking, etc.

A microwave over the fridge seems like a bad idea to me. At 5' 6" I would probably spill something hot on myself (or trip over the folding stool I'd need).

There are two options I tried. I started out installing a slide out on the top shelf of the hall closet. That worked fine but severely limits the microwave that will fit, a small number of 700watt units. Later, since we donít use the slide out bed under the TV, I installed a combination extra work surface and space for a full size microwave.

I got the power for the microwave from the refrigerator compartment next door to the hall closet. Drill one hole and you're there. There is more detail in this thread. You'll want to flip the closet door around, add full access hinges, etc. Also, there is no room to spare on the microwave so you'll want to use the model I identify or something no larger.

My first attempt I used drawer slides on the bottom. That turned out to be a mistake because they used too much height (the microwave ran into the curved aluminum at the back of the closet.) In my second edition I used slides on the sides.
