Searching in Airforums

When I do a search why do I get all sorts of returns that have nothing to do with my search filter?

As an example “hitch storage”. Returns all kinds of crap not relating to hitch storage. What am I doing wrong?

I have always found it best to search AirForums via Google. Type in airforums along with the topic This way you have a much better chance of finding what you are looking for.

If you add site:www.airforums.com to the end of your google search you will only get results from Airforums. I find this to be much easier than the search function on the forum.

Use the Air Forums search box near the top of the page and put multiple words inside double quotes. The search box will format it for you and submit it to Google.

I found the "Search" in the blue bar is handy for finding posts if you know the author, even yourself. Here I click; search > advanced search > type in the user name to find posts or threads.
Hint: If you start a thread, you won't always find results in the "New Posts" filter, even if people responded. So I'd use search to find if anyone responded to my thread.
Using keywords is always a disaster. I put in "Air Conditioner" and get results on cooking hot dogs!
For Keyword search use the blue rectangle with the word "Air Forums". That seems to be Google for Air Forums.
That's my take.

In searches, if you're searching for more than a single word, putting the phrase in double quotes or adding a plus sign between words can (but not always) help. Different search engines have their own rules. Sometimes you should use only key words, sometimes phrases or asking a question. In results it may have one of your keywords with a strikeout line, but you can choose "must contain..." whatever the word is.

Sponsored ads pay to be at the top of the list, even if they don't say "sponsored" or "ad", even if they don't contain the words you're looking for. It's the wild, wild west in the Internet. I try Google but I also use Bing.

Ya pays your money and ya's takes yur chances.

Ha! Nice to know I'm not the only one frustrated with the search function on this forum...it's especially annoying when a question is asked and someone responds "search the forum! The answers are there"! Well, maybe so, if it were possible to find them...I like the Google idea.
