Rear camera monitor mount

What dash mounting hardware comes with the the monitor, and is it configurable to be compatible with RAM mount hardware.

I have a Ram and have never heard of a mounting device, what is it?

Ah, not the truck. RAM is the name of the manufacturer of modular mounting devices. Give them a look. Lots of creative uses.

Yes! I spent some time researching and used a few RAM parts. The nice feature is the 1" ball makes a universal type gadget.
I didn't want anything attached to the windshield, and my GPS sits on a dash mount, so I devised a cup holder to arm mount. I like it.


The hardest part was the plate to hold the monitor. I was ready to use Velcro when I found a "4 hole I-grip Amps mount". Your monitor may vary.

You should maybe be getting a VWOS43 Voyager Digital Wireless Observation system- confirm with the dealer-. I don't see the measurements in the owner's manual n(You can download it online). I just stuck my monitor in the left bottom corner of the windshield and dash boar with some Loctite Fun-Tak, it's been holding fine for 4 yrs. It comes with a bracket and suction cup. You can sink up to 4 Cameras to the Monitor. For more info; ASA Electronics 1-877-305-0445. etrailer also carries this Voyager camera.

Speaking from experience, in some states, Florida for certain, ( I received a ticket), it is illegal to attach any device to the windshield except for the toll transmitter.The cop says they obscure the drivers vision. I tried but failed to convince the cop that the monitor was below my vision and putting it lower would mean I would have to keep looking down to see what was behind me.

This to me seems to as dangerous as holding a cell phone, which is also illegal in Florida.

In California, it can't be mounted to the windshield, so you have to find some way to do it lower on the dash.

I have a Furrion Backup camera. I went with the RAM Mount Universal Magnetic Power Plate III Holder. Works great and the monitor pops off with a quick twist. The Plate III has two magnets (very strong hold) and the metal plate (double stick-taped to monitor, 1.5"X2") is indexed to the Magnetic Power Plate so the monitor always ends up in the same place. The Power Plate II has only one magnet and is not indexed. I then added a RAM mount Diamond Plate with 1" Ball to join the Power Plate to the RAM arms. A RAM Tough-Mag (66mm) Ball Base holds it all to the dash. Very pleased with the setup.

I mentioned the 4 hole AMPS mount, because the back of the monitor had the slots for it (sort of, still took minor filing) Then, it just snaps on.

I mount mine to the windshield, but the suction cup seems to have weakened, and fell down a few times. I now have the DILL TPMS, and it suction cups to the windshield.. I may move it to the floor, as I don’t look at all that often.
I was wondering if the rear camera monitor couldn’t just mount to the rear view mirror? All you can see anyway is the front of the trailer.. Anyone tried it up there?

I made a setup that allows me to hook the monitor over my rear view mirror. I made it out of some pvc gutter material I had laying around and used a combination of epoxy glue and velco to mount it to the mirror. Works great! I look at the mirror anyway to see what is behind me, so it is the natural place to look. It stays where I put it, is out of the way, and plugs into the outlets on the dash.

I use a $50 WiFi camera with my iPad Velcroed to my rear view mirror. Just a natural movement to see a rear view behind the trailer.

Just picked up my 2021, 25'FBT FC a few months ago. The hardware, for the inside the cabin mount, is a really good suction cup that works as-long-as the window is clean.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like Mollysdad and Fred have found RAM solutions and that is the direction I will plan to go. I am interested in Fred’s magnet based approach.

It will be a few months before I pull this together, but I will post a description of the final setup once complete.

For those with late model Ford trucks....in the center of the dash is the flat pocket tray. I cut a piece of wood to fit in that pocket. Painted it. Attached a light piece of flat metal (aluminum) across the top. On the bottom I velcroed (heavy duty) it to the bottom of the tray (sans rubber tray insert). The metal surface now provides a good suction mount for the supplied mounting system. And all this is removable back to normal when not in use.

This is for ANY monitor with suction mounting of course.

I'm slow, but I finally re-read your post and what you asked was if the OEM backup monitor could be adapted to a Ram arm.
In general I'd say, no. But anything can be adapted. There's plenty of aftermarket suppliers that sell interfaces to adapt to Ram. It just takes some time on Google.
Assuming the knowledge base is correct on the 4.3" monitor, it appears to include this suction cup mount. IF it is the same ball size as my GPS, (17mm?.) then you should find RAM parts to provide that ball.
How about downloading the Voyager Manual and see if it mentions the mount?
Rats, I looked online at the manual and it doesn't give any details on the mount.

However, I found a ball adapter that's designed to go from Garmin to Ram.
Might be something to keep in mind for your Voyager mount.
GPS City has the goods.
The size "A" RAM is 9/16".

I carry it in a bag in the console until I need it. Fits fine.
