Hey there airstreamers! This section has been a little quiet lately so I thought I would share our new endeavor. My wife and I have been quite fortunate to have been RVing since our early 20s in a 34’ class C named “Bertha”. Earlier this year we sold the giant block-of-cheese on wheels. We decided to put a deposit down on a new 27FB and we have just received news that it has shown up at Airstream of Tampa after just six days from leaving the factory. We plan to pick up the trailer the first week of January. We figured this would give us a little bit of a break from the cold in Virginia and allow us a few weeks to explore around after pick up. We are extremely excited and will keep this thread updated with our thoughts on the initial quality and of course any problems that arise, especially since there have been quite a few posts lately about substandard QC issues. Also our 95 pound lab, Angus, will be coming along for the ride so he will definitely speed up any possible issues coming to light LOL. We will also share how our tow vehicle does during this trip as most have stated that unless you have a 3/4-1 ton you are thoroughly risking life and limb. Anywho, counting down the days and hopefully we can add some informative/entertaining posts to the forum. [emoji1783]

Downhill502, welcome to the Airstream community and congratulations on your new trailer! We visited the factory while our GT was in production and picked it up in April.

I found some cosmetic issues but nothing I couldn’t fix myself. We’re about 65 miles from the dealer so unless the repair needs parts, I prefer to do it myself.

Congrats, I had some neighbors this summer with a 2019 27 Globetrotter who invited me over, what a beauty, for real...but my bathroom and refrigerator are bigger on my 25 . The 27 is the ideal couples camper IMO, 25 for a single person, 30 bunk Flying Cloud if children involved, and 33 when you hit the lottery, ha ha. Congrats on your beautiful new AS!

Thanks for that and we did really like the 25 layout and definitely agree on your size recommendations. I think the 27 is the sweet spot for us. The Globetrotter 30 did look impressive but just not for us.

Agree, but honestly I need one of each, lol...it be nice to have a 19 footer for overnight trips and a 33 to live in, which is basically my retirement plan. Until then the 25-27 is the reasonable person’s choice. Pics please!!!

Congratulations on your 27fb. Our "Pete" is a 2014 version with twins that we bought from Bates in late '13 (they were the long time Airstream dealer on the current RVOne property back in the day).

We love the floorplan, footprint and the rear lounge of the 27fb. Fortunately, we got the floorplan right for us with one try!

Congratulations friends. The wife and I jumped in on Columbus Day Weekend with ours. Kind of painful to see her (the "Silver Tuna") all covered in snow while we anxiously await enough time to roll. We are excited as I am certain you are. By the way, I towed my 27FB with a ½ ton Toyota Tundra with no problems.

Congratulations Nikonman13 on taking the plunge (the water is fine!). Sounds like we have similar travel history. We are very happy with our GT and plan to attend the WBCCI International Rally in Loveland this June. Would love to meet you guys sometime!

By the way, still have our Nikon FE and FE2 film cameras

We sold our 2009 International 23D in September and contemplated every new model for some time including a trip to the Hershey show. Finally deciding on the GT 27FBQ Dublin Slate and a dealer to purchase it through it was ordered in Late September. We were lucky enough to visit Jackson Center when it was in Final on the line. Two weeks later we made the trip to take delivery. It was not camping weather so there was no first night shakedown, but a few items that were noticed on the walk through were corrected before we left.

We pulled it with our F150 Max Tow rated at 1750# payload and even though we were sent out with an improperly adjusted WD hitch, it pulled fine for the 450 miles home. I have since set the hitch up properly and in the 6 miles towing since it felt great. We are planning to stay with the F150 since it fits in our garage.

As soon as I got home I washed it and found two leaks. It is currently at the former Airstream of Western PA getting those leaks repaired and being pressure tested with soapy water for any others. If they find any other issues I will have those corrected too. They are no longer an Airstream dealer so I will likely be paying out of pocket, but they are exceptional with their knowledge and skills with the Airstreams. Much more convenient than taking to the selling dealer or Jackson Center. There were a handful of minor issues on the interior which I corrected myself while it was at home. While it is indoors over the winter I plan to apply Glare to it that Airstream sells.

We love everything about the new camper and feel it will meet our needs perfectly. The styling and materials used are to our taste. We kept the separate microwave, added the 2nd AC, skipped the solar and had Airstream Connected installed. We will be adding the RV Whisper items to it and a Blink Camera to monitor the Dog if she needs to stay behind on hot days.

Can't wait for the upcoming camping season. We typically were doing 40 - 45 nights a year, but am trying to step it up to 55 - 60 this year. I am glad so many seem pleased with their GTs.

Thank you, Jeff! I wish I had kept my film Nikons and even some of the lenses I started out with when I worked for Photo Services in college, just for nostalgia's sake. You don't think about that stuff when you are young. Anyway, I am now shooting the incredible D850 and a couple of D600's.

Our congratulations on your new GT and welcome to Airforums. Your Airstream dreaming already makes you both official Streamers in my book.

We are vintage owners but sure do like the new GT. We may use some of the design elements in the makeover of our 95 34’.

Maybe we will see you at the National rally.

Congratulations. I love my 27' GT.

Pro tip.... The forks (the kind that you eat with) that come with the GT are the perfect fit when pulling out the LPG leak detector when your dog knocks it into the wall.

Again I have to say I was extremely nervous about putting a new order through a new dealer that was 900 miles away but everyone at Airstream of Tampa was fantastic. I really got sucked into the horror stories on this forum of the extremely low quality control of just about everything coming out of the factory but this was not the case. The dealership went through every inch during their PDI and shared and issues and replacements that were need. After the purchase the set us up on there lot with power for the night to verify that everything was working as it should.

Looks great. A good PDI by the dealer will get a lot of leftover factory stuff fixed properly before you take delivery. I suspect that’s the big satisfaction difference.

Not that relevant but our 2007 had but one trip before it came into our family, and it was super clean and perfect. Sutton in Oregon was the dealer both times. They are known for being thorough at least at that time.
