Brilliant. Thanks a ton for the schematic and part number.
So much happier that this stays up by itself now.

Gas struts installed on cabinet door above fridge

We also have a smaller cabinet in our 2017 FC25 FBQ - the struts will work they just have to be attached a little further back into the cabinet. You can see from my picture the first location closer to the front of the cabinet; the piston closed on itself when attached there and would not allow the door to swing shut. The further back location for the base works perfectly.
Came across a video on general installation of struts recommending the piston extend from the bottom so that there is a little dampening effect as the door swings upwards. Attached at the door and then used a block of wood against the extended piston to find the sweet spot where the piston will compress but still allow the door to close fully. This door is so light that only on piston is needed from what I can tell.
Now need advice on how to plug the holes from the mistaken first location. Or just keep our barware up there and you can’t see it . . .

The previous owner of my 25FB added the strut and I like it!

I understand that AS now installs gas struts on bathroom cabinets.
My 2016 28 RBQ does not have them. Does any
Have the spec for the strut AS uses on newer models
Of the 28RBQ?
Thanks

I know this is an old post, but curious if you used the 7 or 10 inch strut.

I just checked my Amazon order history and found it was for a 10”, 10 pound unit. See my post #20 for a photo of the install.

I bought these based on a recommendation from an Airstreamer on FB. I plan to only use one at the rear, so the access is clear in the front.
Where they're needed is the door above the fridge that opens up.

I used a gas strut made by Apexstone - 45N/10lb available on Amazon.
Position of the strut is crucial or the door won’t close. Here are the measurements:
Top of strut: mount the bracket 3 inches from top of door, and 5/8” in from the side
Bottom of strut: mount the bracket 1 inch from bottom of door and 1 inch in from the side

What length strut did you use? I followed um the diagram with a 10” strut and I’m getting no lift distance - I’m thinking I need a much longer strut
