Mirror image

Voyager came with our 2018 FC. Also a bit surprised with the level of technology, suction cup bracket broke early on, intermittent water infiltration problems. No biggy, still much better than nothing for towing.
More recently, on two occasions, the image flipped such that right was left and (obviously) vice versa. First time in heavy traffic; luckily I don't rely on it exclusively, or there could have been HUGE problems.
How can this even happen? I have yet to contact Voyager which I will do before the coming season.

I believe there is a flip button as one of the choices on the front panel?

No flip switch on my model WVOM541AP. Of course I pulled the plug and reapplied power, still in the flipped position. Eventually it just returned to normal image while still powered on.

If you press the Power button for a few seconds, it offers you to flip and mirror the image.

I believe that circuitry and firmware within the camera stores the selected image presentation mode settings. If there is water within the camera this could cause erratic behavior.

Hi Hobbie1,

Thanks for the post. I just ordered one of those mounts for my F-250. Can you tell me how you removed the tray to mount the BuiltRight bracket? It looks like there are two screws under forward part of the tray near the speaker that need to be removed first and then the tray pops out?

Two 7mm bolts forward, and three clips at the rear. The clips require a good bit of force but eventually release. Built right has a YouTube install video.

I lost one of the white clips into the depths of the dash. Ford wants $2.50 each, minimum order of four so try not to lose one.

Hobbie1, can you provide the part number for the ball attachment that mounts to the Voyager?
Thanks.

Install just follow the Builtright instructions recommend you go to Orilleys and get a set of trim removal tools.

Amazon link from the ball https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the arm

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Ph mount

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You will need some mounting screws and nuts. I went to Ace and got some black hex screws and nuts. It’s a little tricky getting them installed and easier if you mount the balls before mounting the Builtright bracket

Thank you, but the question regarded mounting of the Voyager display. I have all the other material for the phone.

I do not have the display yet so can’t see the back of the unit. What RAM part number do you use to mount the display to the arm?

The one above that says Amazon "ball" is it..... fits perfect.

Here is a shot of th back of the Voyager with the RAM mount

You need 2 - one for the back of the display and one to mount to the Builtright rack plus the extension arm..

Great! Thank you, that is what I needed. It looks like you needed to open the case, but found room for the nuts and washers inside without interference with electronics. I am surprised there was easy access and room.

No need to open the case. It's a standard mount. You will remove the factory suction mount, use the factory screws and screw on the RAM ball. Easy.....

I have used and am impressed with Ram Mount products. The 10" iPad that I use for my current camera display is held up with them. However, they are relatively heavy and so for the Haloview camera monitor I am going to try out 67 Design's carbon fiber arms. That way the total weight hanging off of the dashboard will be less. I believe the rigidity will be the same for this application.

Got the Voyager 6” adjustable mount

BoscoMN, thanks for sharing the 67 Design link. I saw a photo on their website showing their 55 Series bar mount on a RAM truck dash above the radio. I really liked the setup but it got expensive once I added up the parts needed.

That got me thinking about using the Voyager 6” adjustable mount in the same spot of the dash. I found it on Amazon for $28.

There are two screws under the rubber cover. The base on the Voyager mount was just a little too wide. Rather than cut it down and have to install Rivnuts, I made a new plate out of 2” flat stock and used the factory screw locations with 1/2” longer trim screw.

A little paint and a new pad cut from a mouse pad and I can still fit the TST TPMS monitor next to it with Velcro. No more suction cup mount on the windshield and the ball mount is easy to loosen and remove the display when not using it.

Swap two screws and it’s back to the way it came from the factory. I always learn something from these threads!
-Jeff
