Can you help me with location of Yeti Goal Zero Cigarette Lighter Power

I always preface that I am not proficient with electrical. However, with the help of Pteck and his Affordable Approachable Lithium post

and fellow Globetrotter owner, Jeffmc306 I have been able to figure out how to charge my Yeti Goal Zero 1000 inside my Globetrotter while towing and boondocking using my 12V power system. Power would be supplied using the Yeti charger with requires a cigarette lighter adaptor from my tow vehicle, when moving and also by solar panels when moving and boondocking. I have a 2018 27FB Twin. Jeff has a 2019.

Before finalizing this I need to determine where to tap into the DC power buss in my Globetrotter. I have found that I can tap into power from a) the main fuse panel beneath the refrigerator or b) the DC power buss underneath the curbside bed.

My preference is “a” but I wanted to run this by the Globetrotter group before finalizing this. My future additions may be to replace the current solar controller with a Victron Controller and possibly an automatic transfer switch to switch between AC and Goal Zero power supplies. The latter is probably above my pay grade but I have the option to hire someone to do this for me.

I have successfully fish a line from the main power area to the access plate to the right of the shower beneath the street side bed. My preference would be to mount the cigarette lighter socket on that wall near the aluminum shield that contains the furnace duct. I could also fish the wire thru that duct and mount the cigarette lighter on the cabinet wall that contains the furnace duct as it is all open above the duct.

Secondly, Jeff has advised me the DC power station beneath the curbside bed has open ports on the buss to pull power from that area. Both of these options would have the cigarette lighter in the same location but on opposite sides of the trailer. We had full extension sliding drawers installed under our beds so my preference would be to put the power outlet on the exterior wall of the shower.

The kicker in all this is that the 2019 GT has a fully removable panel beneath the curbside bed to allow complete access to the inverter and DC power station. The 2018 GT only has a small removable cut out piece. This allows you to look at the inverter and DC power station but you can’t remove them or take off the cover to the DC power station. To gain access I will have to remove the nightstand and the full top of the storage top. To get access in the future, I would make my own full removable panel.

The Solar Controller is installed in that DC power station so I will have to do this eventually to gain access to that area. The question is – Is there any compelling reason to but the cigarette lighter connection on the curbside cabinet? If so, then I need to bite the bullet and do that now.

The other question is – if I hire someone to install a transfer switch at a later date, can one even be mounted in the Globetrotter and will the cigarette lighter location now affect that decision in the future?

Any thoughts from anyone?

I attached some pictures to assist.

If it were me I’d run your circuit from the DC distribution (fuse) panel, as there are spare fused circuits there.

I look at the 12v DC panel (the grey box in your pics) as stuff vital for the trailer’s safe operation (towing lights and brakes, battery charging, propane detector). Accessories belong on that other panel.

Full-timing it in a 2020 International Serenity 30RB!
