2023 Globetrotter

We received our new Airstream in November. We love it. Only complaint so far is the dining table which is actually 2 small tables on metal columns that wobble and turn when you try to use it. Anyone have any input on it? Its awfully flimsy for such a expensive RV.

I have a 2023 GT on order and I am very concerned about this is as well. It’s actually one of the biggest worries I had with the GT

We have a 2022 GT and ours has started to get wobbly as well. I started looking on the forums about replacing the leg with one of these gas powered ones. We mainly leave our dining area in a C configuration and use only one table.

I’m just not sure how the existing base is installed (if there are nuts holding the bolts in or not) and it would be great not to make new holes in the subfloor, but the new pedestal has a larger base with a different hole pattern.

Existing pedestal:

7″ aluminum surface mount floor base with 5-3/4″ hole pattern

New pedestal:
https://springfieldgrp.com/product/1660230/
12″ dia. floor base with 11″ hole pattern for added stability.

Wobble fix being prototyped

I have the same table with the same issues. I am a mechanical engineer and I’m currently prototyping various solutions to this issue. My trailer is in storage but I hope to have testing completed and parts available for purchase by community members in the spring.

Yep. Best option is to replace the leg.
This is my 30’ GT but the leg swap is basically the same.

Thanks for your input GMFL ! Did you use any kind of threaded inserts or did you go directly into the subfloor? I saw this post here and was wondering what is best for long term - https://www.airforums.com/forums/f7/...ml#post2382024

Also for others $532 seems to be the lowest price I have found so far - https://www.cascadedepot.com/springf...14-28-1660232/

I screwed straight to the floor. The threaded inserts are nice, but are really just a larger screw. I use those inserts often. Usually when something would need to be removed for access, like a furniture piece.
The base of the new pedestal is quite large and stable so I saw no need for anything other than screws.

We just received our 2023 Globetrotter and like others , we love everything but the table. I knew the split table was not something that we were going to be fond of. The Wobbly issue is one thing, and we were expecting that, but the big issue is that when the two tables are put together and latched, they are uneven. Like bad uneven. The dealer said he tries everything to get them to even up , but no luck. I've seen other new GT's that have this table and yes they were wobbly, but not uneven. My luck of course.
Anybody know how to fix this ?

The uneven tables is a common issue with the design. One solution some have used is to attach a strip of metal on the underside of one of the halves. Attach it so that it extends beyond the edge of the table. When you set the clamps, the metal strip will catch the other half. Something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/1-3-8-in...RS12/313507651

It works because there is one side that always goes up while the other half always goes down. This is not an elegant solution. But it will work for now. Just be sure to get the right sized screws otherwise you’ll have holes through the top of your table.

I am working on 3d printed solutions to the wobble and the uneven clamping for people with this issue. Unfortunately my trailer has been at the dealer for service since December so I can’t test the prototypes that I’ve built. I was supposed to have it back in early January but they are still waiting for parts. Hopefully I’ll have it back in a few weeks.

I think this one will work as well. $100 cheaper.

I've been on this Forum long enough to know that what I'm about to say falls into the category of "Yeah, so what, what's new?"

Yet, I must: How absurd it is to spend $140,000 +/- for a new Airstream and have to replace or substantially modify the dinning table because it is so poorly designed and installed.

Geez, come on Airstream.

Cheers,

Bryan

We had the same issue in our 2021 GT but quickly found that the tables set up evenly in only one configuration. Switch them around and they’re uneven. I labeled them underneath so that I know how to set properly whenever we take them apart. No issues since.

Hello!

I also have the same issue (2022 GT 27FT). Right now I have both two tables, longest side parallel from left side to right side. Are you saying that yours are configured longest side parallel from back of trailer to front?

Thank you for your kind response.

BogeyPro,
We have a 2021 27 GT FBT. The tables are set long sides parallel to back window. With this configuration the tables are only even when one table is by the rear window and the other closest to the galley. Turn them anround and it’s uneven.

Hope this helps!
