2021 Model Owners - Do you need to defrost?

Those of you with the 2021 models that have the compressor model AC/DC refrigerators, especially if you are full timing or "mostly timing" and have the NovaKool RFU6800 (25 footers or less I think), do you have to defrost your refrigerator and how often?

Thanks,

Steve

Anybody?

So I'll try and bring this to the top of the list and see if anyone will bite...

If you have a 25ft or less 2021-2022 GT with the Nova Kool RFU6800 refrigerator in it, how badly does it frost up? Do you have to frequently defrost?

Thinking of replacing our crummy Dometic with one of these units.

Thanks,

Steve

Our 2020 GT has a Norcold all electric. Based on how it’s going so far, I would recommend defrosting it every couple weeks to a month.

Nova Kool RFU6800

We just finished a 4 week trip with our new 2021 GT FBT with a Nova Kool RFU6800 refrigerator. After a couple weeks we got quite a lot of frost "build up" on the cold plate evaporator. The fridge didn't hold it's temp as well after the frost built up. Freezer was fine. Next trip, we probably should defrost after a couple weeks for better performance. (We use temp monitors that are placed inside the fridge and freezer so we don't have to open to see the temperature.)

The quick answer is yes you must defrost, the Novakool is not a self defrosting refrigerator. As mentioned, how often depends on your use…
I’d suggest at least once a month.

I did it on mine after six months of using it full time. But the frost buildup was marginal. I’m in a 27ft GlobeTrotter (2021)
