2018 GT27 Twin VIN Question

We're looking at a 2018 GT27 Twin. Is there a contact at AS

that I can research the VIN for warranty or recall work performed?

[been lurking here and looking at units quite a while, lots of great info, so thanks for that]

Dirtbeard, congratulations on jumping in (almost)!

You can call 877-596-6111 and explain to them what you’re doing. Hopefully they can help. Is it a private party? I’d think they would be glad to share any warranty work to show it’s been taken care of.

Otherwise, go through the trailer as if you were picking it up from the dealer - test all the appliances, furnace and AC. There are other treads with delivery checklists.

Good luck!

It's at an SOB dealership. Apparently someone bought a 2018 GT in August, 2018, kept 1.5 years and traded it in on a much larger SOB with slide outs.

The unit looks nearly immaculate. And if it was purchased in August of 2018 it should have nearly 1.5 years left on the warranty if my math is right.

That's great news - their loss is your gain!

About the warranty, another poster, GettinAway recently purchased a "used" 2019 GT from Airstream Chicago. The trailer never left the dealer's lot. The original purchaser refused it at delivery because they changed their minds and bought a FC with the rear hatch.

GettinAway picked up the trailer and went camping right away. They had trouble with the refrigerator (wouldn't run) and called Airstream. They said while the original 3 year is transferable, warranty on appliances is for the original owner only. Go figure! This is all in his post.

The good news it turned out all they needed to do was press the "reset" button on the fridge display panel and it started working again.

We love our GT and sounds like you found a gem, just be aware of the above in case there's some minor problem.

Good luck!

It is a nice looking unit.

Two things make me pause: The dealer has several rather poor reviews, for the quality of the trailers they sell and their service. I'd never take the GT there for service anyway, so maybe that doesn't matter.

The other is the power awning. As cool as it looked, that just looks like a major problem waiting to happen.

So, we'll see.

Hope it works out for you. And yes, the warranty will cover trailer only, not appliances. Not sure about awning. The awning does have some issues, but they (AS) has been using them for a while on the higher end models. Some have issues, but I think most are working fine.
How far are you from the factory? If I lived in Ohio, I’d head there for all warranty repairs. I will say, we really like the GT, and pressing some buttons for set up and departure is something I am adapting to.

I love the power awning. Had manual on my previous 23 fc and was difficult to use.

No problems with the power awning. Dave

Unfortunately the 2018 GT's only had a 2 year warranty. Airstream started the 3 year warranty for the 2019 model year. I wouldn't let that stop me from buying if the price was right and the trailer looked to be in good shape after inspection.

You might try asking the dealer to ask the previous owner to contact you so you can ask any questions you might have.

BTW we have had no trouble with our power awning once I learned to always hit the close button first before opening the awning if the power had been turned off to the awnings control board. Apparently this resets the awnings position sensor.
