What size fuse?

Anyone know what size fuse I should use on the positive wire to the Zamp solar receptacle?

What size fuse?

Choose by wire size.

Look for an “Ampacity” table with google, then pick the fuse size to protect the wire size.

Quick rule of thumb:

14 gauge wire 15 amp fuse
12 gauge wire 20 amp fuse

Thanks RMKRUM.
The wires coming into the battery box from the Zamp receptacle look the size of a home extension cord which I would think are 14 gauge (15amp). My question was because some have said they power 12 volt compressors through the Zamp connection. Maybe 15 amp would handle that. At any rate I will try a 15 amp fuse. Thanks again.

Examine the wires carefully for markings like “AWG-14” or the like.

20 amp

I was able to read 12awg on the wire. So I will use a 20 amp fuse. Thanks again.

I'm the guy who uses it for the air compressor/Flojet Macerator. I put a 20 amp fuse in there since it was 12g wire.

Bobbo. Thanks for the conformation on the fuse size. I like having that option of using the 12 volt compressor. I'm sure the cord on mine wouldn't reach the TV.
