Tripping Breaker. Fridge or Converter?
New 2018 Flying Cloud. when plugged into shore power and running Fridge on electric, there is eventually a fan running hard behind panel under fridge and the breaker trips. So interior lights go off, fridge displays some kind of error code instead of temp and batteries begin to discharge.
Anybody familiar with that? If so, what would the diagnostic process be.
Thanks.

I had something similar happen on our first camping trip. Don't know if it's related to your experience.
Twenty three degree outside temp, wake up in the middle of the night with furnace not running, 48°F in the trailer. Took awhile to figure out problem after first checking breakers at power pole and at converter - problem was that the solenoid or relay that goes "thunk" when you put the trailer in store mode had self actuated. All electrics were disconnected.
Turning it back to "run" got everything going - for about an hour. Then it happened again. Happened a total of four times that morning. The last couple of times we were eating breakfast, the lights over the dinette and over the kitchen counter both flickered, then "thunk", and all power went out.
The trailer is at the dealer now having that, and a few other problems, attended to. Service Manager said in 2018 that solenoid was wired to turn off converter as well as disconnect batteries when in "store" mode. He said prior to 2018 it was not that way, and they were going to rewire the system to pre-2018 specs. Hopefully that will correct the problem.

Thanks Erik. I can definitely see that being a problem. Mine is a breaker though. of course, once the the breaker is ok i may run into your issue! Hope not! Nice that Airstream was my first reply! Hopefully they’ll have some good guidance!

Your interior lights should not have been effected right away after the breaker tripped. They are 12 volt lights and should run off the batteries if the batteries are any good.
When did you get the trailer and any idea how long it sat on the lot before you picked it up? If it sat for any time the batteries are most likely bad as the would be drawn down by the CO2 detector.
I Airstream is still following this tread they should take note and not connect that detector at the factory. That should be a dealer prep function.

I’ve never been in the trailer when the breaker tripped but have noticed the batteries discharge very quickly.

If your lights quit, that is the converter. Airstream changed to the WFCO converter for cost. We get more calls on those than any other. You have options but best might be warranty if you don't want to upgrade to a better product yet since that would be out of pocket.
