Tankless 2021 Water Heater

I’ve read some feed back some bad some good on the new Airstream FC tankless system. I sorta wish they would have left it alone I never had major problems with our FC 6 gallon electric and gas.

I just watched a YouTube on how the owner of a new Grand Design swapped out the stock unit for the Truma tankless. Listed some features that made it seem much superior to the Airstream stock tankless. The owner claimed with a Gerard you cannot mix the cold water in with the hot. It is experiment for settings then set it to what you like turn it on then wait for it to send hot and only use the hot water valve. If you turn on the cold it stops? >

Any feedback out there on if this is true? Have you been getting alone OK with the new tankless Airstream units?

Thanks

I have no experience with the tankless. I am thankful to have a modern 6 gallon gas electric. I can turn run it on gas, electric or both. I have 6 extra gallons on board. I also run the water heater on electric while we pack. Then we have 6 gallons of hot water for the travel day and no gas is required.

The tankless tradeoff is unlimited hot water for water conservation, really. I think the perfect case would be a timed circulator so you can keep the water in the hot lines hot for 10 or 15 minutes by keeping it circulating, then you could take a navy shower that's not mostly cold. For a full-hookup site (or a house) tankless is great. That few seconds of flow required to even light the burner costs some water, though.

I agree

I’ve heard of one who removed the tankless and went back to ole faithful. I called the company on the recirculating plumbing they sell but no way am I drilling a hole in the new shower wall. I also know of one who threw out he Airsteam unit had the Truma installed which will preheat. Seems ole Airsteam cut corners again.
