And you can buy your own barrel for the mere price of about $10k - that'd save you a TON of money.

Not sure why you feel the insurance would not cover the full cost of replacement lees small deductible. When we got coverage with Allstate they used full replacement list cost even though we purchased at a discount, and I confirmed with the agent that worked like agreed upon value, and would be the amount they would pay in full for theft or total loss. Fingers crossed.
Second the Provenlok and a wheel lock. Like the idea of blocks or jackstands and take the wheels off. We use a Whistle dog tracker for our AS as the cost and plan was less than the good vehicle GPS trackers we looked at, and we know it is reliable after years of using them on our two dogs.

Dude, you can do both....and the bourbon lessens the misery. I do feel your pain.

I think it would be hard to sell without papers and title. I've read where most the time stolen trailers are towed to someone's vacant land somewhere in the boonies and parked permanently for use as a hunting cabin. Or it could be somewhere in Mexico. If my trailer were stolen, then later found, I don't think I'd want it back. Probably badly abused by then.

1. we used the Brahma wheel lock on our tires so they cant move
http://www.brahmalock.com
2. mega hitch lock on the front so no-one can pull the trailer
http://www.megahitchlock.com
3.we have a DC switch to turn off power on the front, that way the 7 way cable does not work

Mine is stored in gated facility in Houston also and now I’m a bit nervous. Would you mind saying which facility or what area of Houston? I feel just awful for your parents loss. That’s just terrible.

Stolen batteries too..
I am so sorry to hear about the Flying Cloud being stolen, hopefully someone will spot it out there for sale.
I was at my storage unit yesterday and heard that many of the rv owners who park outside have recently had all of their batteries stolen out of the rvs. This is in Pittsburg, KS.
They said that someone just cut the cables and took all their batteries (the people talking owned large 5th Wheel units). The owner of the storage facility said that it has happened before.
I hope this is helpful as a preventive measure.

when we added Lion battery, we moved them inside.
all people can steel are the propane tanks. small loss.
all else is inside. lock the wheels and remove power.
that way someone will move over to an easier item than yours.
most thefts are by amateurs who need quick money and not pro

Me too. I would also like to know this in order to assess our risk. Thanks.

Sometimes thieves can sneak in before gates close. Our storage closes at 9 and locks it automatically. No one can get out without calling a certain nor posted on gate. Guard dogs go out in storage all night.

They will of course not be able to register it anywhere as the VIN # is now listed as a stolen vehicle.
You can also make lots of social media posts about that VIN # trailer being stolen. That way any potential customer who might be trying to purchase it can find a posting about it's theft.
Good luck with finding it or the insurance side.

In addition since the storage facility didn't have video of the theft. A nearby business or residence might have it on video. The facility should be able to provide a list of key coded entries in that time frame to investigators.

Sure - the storage facility was "Affordable Storage" on Morton Rd in Katy, TX. Here are some pictures of the facility. It doesn't appear the keypad tracks entries. My parents are going to see if any local business have security cameras that may have captured the thief's vehicle. We are trying to do what we can to make it slightly less convenient for this thief and any future potential thieves to succeed in this crime.

Thanks for your concern. There are not big red numbers anywhere on this model unfortunately. It does have 3 awnings, solar panels, 2 ACs and storage containers on all 4 sides.

Theft
Check w. local highway agencies for videos from their toll booths. Many vehicles can be tracked that way. Also, checkwith Border Control as it would be easy to sell in another country where fake titles area easier to procure.
For everyone else, consider an inexpensive tracking system like Quartix

Look into the Tile gps trackers if you want a budget friendly (and no subscription) tracker. I’ve got 6 now...definitely one very well hidden in the AS.
