Question for 2018 Flying Cloud Owners

Hi,

We are owners of a new to us 2013 Flying Cloud 25FB. One of the first things my wife asked was if we could get a spring or strut to hold up the bathroom medicine cabinet mirrored door.

The local airstream dealer told me that the 2018 flying clouds have this and ordered the parts for us. But of course they came with no mounting instructions on where exactly to drill the holes, even when I asked.

It would be great to see a picture of how this is mounted in someones medicine cabinet. Here is a picture from the 2018 flying cloud parts book, the lifting mechanism is just below the part marked with number 5.

Thanks!

I mounted a hydraulic strut on my bathroom mirror, so you should be able to do the same thing. It works well and I’m much happier with it now. The next time that i’m at the trailer i’ll Get a picture. I found the fix using the search inside the blue box near the top of the Air Forums Page.

I installed the spring strut that I ordered from the dealer. It works better than nothing but doesn't hold the door open all the way. These are the parts that come standard on a 2018 Flying Cloud

Picture shows resting open position w spring force set to max (6)

The mirror in our 2018 FC stays up in nearly a horizontal position. Here's a picture.

I used piano bench hinges for both the mirror and the door above the fridge.
