Pillows, pillows, pillows everywhere

A little pillow talk as I write this from my airstream bed.

When we replaced our previous Airstream with the 2017 model, we were amazed a the number of throw pillows. The first few times out in our new surroundings, we were moving these pillows around like chess pieces; striving to strategically place them where we felt best.

Finally, we started removing them. The first wave was five small pillows. We still have half a dozen or so floating around. A couple are seeming to be reasonably used. A couple go from the bed to the floor.

Who are we decorating for? As a hotel designer myself, the fact the bed pillows match the comforter, these just blend in and don't even serve a decorative function. Seems these bed pillows are going the way of the next removal round; finding their way to one of our kid's college apartments.

I know these don't cost a lot and add some visual interest. I would prefer more usable OSE from Airstream such as a couple of blankets like the Pendleton Airstream version.

Thoughts on pillows?

The very first thing DW did was remove the bedspread and all of the throw pillows. We put them in a big box in the top of one of our house closets so we can put them back if and when we sell the Airstream.

Same here, in a sealed plastic bag for when we upgrade so it looks good for the new buyer.

I have 2 trash bags full of pillows in the attic. 12 pillows? That is just stupid.

Exactly what I did-
All those pillows were just in the way- even the sofa pillows got boxed up.

As NPS retirees we tricked out our 2017 U in a national park theme (no we didn't buy the Pendleton Centennial edition). We bought park related pillow and duvet covers from Redbubble and reused them. What we didn't keep went to the homeless shelter Agree it was overkill in the pillow department!

Yes, i know. Gave some away and sealed a couple of them up. I could't move around without kicking a pillow or two out the door.

There there, Fish...bet you feel better now. Cigarette?
But agreed....they add to the cost, serve little function, and make us feel bad when we get rid of them. Here is to hoping that this predicament is the worst your fine AS will suffer. Safe travels. jon

I tried to keep them for awhile but got tired of constantly moving them out of my way. All the small pillow are in a bag somewhere and will probably end up in a landfill soon, sad. I did keep two pillows for the bed but they may need to go soon, they usually end up being stashed in the shower overnight.

It's pretty unanimous: We HATE the so called decorative pillows! How much does the person get paid who makes decisions like this??? Even the people over on Facebook's "Airstream Addicts" can't stand them or the ugly bedspread!!! What a waste. It's amazing how much roomier my 19' Flying Cloud feels now that those pillows are in my cellar at home!

We also have 2017 26U with WAY TO MANY pillows.....
However, I've recycled them by recovering them with vintage pillows covers...the kind you could by from your destination....I have a vintage Portland, Oregon, just so happens to be where we live; my niece just gave me three, Hawaii, So. Cal, and my fav....Yellowstone.
But I get it, still to many pillows to be comfortable....

Same for us. Pillows & bedspread boxed up to go with the Airstream if we ever sell. Did same with the last two Airstreams. When we sold each of them the buyers were stoked to have all the original textiles in brand new condition.

I bought my 2008 used, but the seller had kept the original linens (bedspread/pillows). They were pretty unattractive so I tossed the whole lot. I do have decorative pillows, but they all serve a functional purpose for comfort at the same time.

From this thread, I'm feeling fortunate that our AS came to us without pillows, bedspreads and the like. Just have simple curtains around the front bedroom windows for privacy.

Do I hear any votes for AS s***_canning the pillows and bed covers and spending the money on better hinges, tank drain valves, cabinet latches, etc.?

Pillows!

We are storing ours in our basement in those vacuum sealed storage bags you can find at WalMaert. Not sure what the future holds for them!

Why not put the pillows to good use??
I replaced the pillow cover with brighter ones
I sewed a zipper in the back of each new cover.
Then instead of stuffing in a pillow, I stuff in my down
Jacket, clothing I don't need till "later"
In the trip. My friend stuffs hers with blankets and
Towels. Leaves more room in the closet,
For whatever.........

In my twins the factory pillows store nicely when wedged between the nightstand and the mattress. I got only four with mine though.'

Agree that the bedspread is a total waste, I'd rather pick my own bed pillows, and the throwpillows should be an option since I hate the color of mine (but I do like the size and density!)
