Loose Tank cover after adding Mopeka tank halos
We put Mopeka rubber tank halos on bottom of our tanks.
The halo has raised the tanks up a little bit ....1/8” or so.
As a result the cover doesn’t want to fit snug and there is a space about 1/8” - 1/4” between the cover and the frame it should be resting on.
I don’t like the thought of the cover rattling when towing.
Going to try to add some type of rubber hose, slit lengthwise on the bottom tank cover edges that should be resting on the frame so it’s a snugger fit.
Anyone have other ideas to try to make the cover snug up and not rattle?
Thanks!!

Head to the local auto parts store, and pick up the trim used for door edges. You can get black or silver. Already "split" for you.
Something like this:

I have the same issue, but the cover does rattle around.....I may try to offset it also as mentioned.

Car door trim sounds like a perfect solution! Went all over and online to get some but could not find any thick enough to snug up the tank cover by making it meet the frame where it sits on. Still have the gap and thus the wiggle / rattle of the cover .
I need at Least 3/8” to 1/4 “ thick. Maybe I’ll have to double up the trim somehow .
Bob Cross....I see your answer in my email notification but don’t see it here on this thread...not sure why?!
Anyway, purpose of the halo for me is to raise the tank a bit to put a tank volume sensor on the bottom and allow the signal a clearer path. Also the rim is always needing rust removal from sitting in the tray. They also sit much more securely and stable with the halo on. Alignment is actually easier without them sliding metal on metal.
I’ll keep trying to find a trim that closes the gap between the tank cover bottom and the frame part it sits on. Thanks for all the thoughts!

Tried readjusting the center threaded rod to lower the cover? Takes a little trial and error with adjusting the nuts, but it can be done. My cover sits on the frame NP.

Readjusting the center rod will be my next attempt because it sounds more permanent of a fix.
For now I put a very small piece of rubber mat on the frame where the tank cover rests . This left a smaller space between the cover and the frame so that the tubing I put on the bottom edges of the cover snugs up tighter. The cover now is rock solid and can’t even see the little rubber pieces on the frame.
Tank monitors are on working great and all is well .....
