Key Issue

Afternoon All,

Before I call a locksmith I was wondering if there is a secret to opening a 001 lock. It's located on the driver side forward of my 19 FC

Thanks Click image for larger version

If the key won't turn, try spraying a lock lubricant with a nozzle into the slot and work the key in and out. If the key turns, turn and remove the key, pull up on the latch and turn it to open the door.

CH751 vs 001

Just a thought...

Is it possible you are using the wrong key? Most new Airstreams come with a bundle of keys and things like the external shower door and fresh water fill use the CH751 key while the door you are referencing uses the specific "001" key which is the same size as the CH751.

Just had a post on this again last week! These get stuck/broken/or just plan won't open anymore. You need to get access into the compartment from inside under the mattress support. Here is the thread with my post #4 showing/explaining where to get the locks and how to fix.

Here is my original post. See post #42

Thanks for the comments I have tried lubricant, and I have gone so far as to order a new 001 key from airstream, still no luck.

I'm an Old Sailor also...but did you read my po a t #5 above "old salt"? Dont wast money on lock smith; take apart the bed auppoer (easy to take screws out and gain access to inside compartment.) Then 1/2 inch wrench will take nut off latch allowing you to remove and open. One locking latch will still keep you operational till you get new lock. It's not the key...key works on all the other locks right? A the info and pics are in my earlier post...
