Furthur

On Thursday we took delivery of our new 2021 Flying Cloud 25FB Twin, replacing our recently sold 2015 Sport 22. It is named "Furthur" after Ken Kesey's bus (and yes, we know how to spell further). We spent two nights at a local campground and thus far have found no problems. We have the factory solar, plus two additional Zamp panels installed by the dealer. The dealer also installed a lift, and we plan a move to lithium shortly. We had good luck and great travels with our Sport 22 and look forward to many years of going ... furthur!

Congratulations and have fun! I do have one question; what is a lift? My guess is perhaps lifting off the axle to get additional ground clearance but I'm not sure.

Yes, a lift involves lifting the body of the trailer approximately 3 inches to increase the ground clearance. It has primarily been done by using a lift kit from Dexter, the manufacturer of the axles, although our dealer does it using a Dexter axle designed with the lift built in. If you do a search on the Forum you will find a number of threads discussing it. It is great for boondocking, but also provides added clearance to avoid scraping at gas stations, driveways, etc. Experience has been that it does not increase gas mileage or cause problems with sway or stability.

Another congratulations on the new 25FBT. They do look good when just off the showroom floor. I love the name.

Our '19 25RBT has only about 6" clearance to the low-point drains and they just stick out/down waiting to be torn off. A lift kit is on the want to-do list.

Best of luck and enjoy!

Congrats on your new FC 25 FB Twin! We just purchased ours last week, but haven’t named it yet. We live in Michigan so we won’t being using ours until May. We love the updated interior! We are deciding on a tow vehicle. What are you planning to use? Thanks!

We love our new Airstream! We will be using our 2015 Ford F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost engine. We haven't towed it up into the mountains yet, but from a couple of initial short hauls (and our previous experience with the much lighter Sport 22) I don't anticipate any issues.

Beauty!
Is that taken at a park or do you have a really spiffy parking spot for the Airstream?

I wish we had a handy, spiffy parking spot like that! The picture was taken the day after delivery, when we were camped at Chatfield State Park on an initial shake down trip.

I agree - fun movie. Definitely a relic from another time. I first read Electric Koolaid Acid Test back in college, and then read On the Road. Neal Cassidy was fascinating across both generations.
