Extra USB ports on flying cloud

My dad got a 2017 flying cloud, 25 ft, last August. There are extra USB ports next to the Blu-ray player and we can’t figure out what they’re for. Does anybody know?

Charging USB devices?

I leave my iPad up there plugged into USB with the personal hotspot running and sit at the table to work, for example. If you fish out the HDMI cable left there to hook up a satellite setup, you can plug that into an iPad as well and use the USB to keep the iPad charged while streaming content to the TV.

There is one USB connection on a cable that is used to stream music from your iPhone to the stereo if you don’t want to use Bluetooth.

What I’m mainly trying to figure out is where I can hook up a streaming device like an Apple TV or roku to show up on the trailer TVs

For what it’s worth I just took out the DVD player since we seldom use those these days. That exposes the HDMI connector there and gives you a lot more room. From there we plug in either an Apple TV, computer, or iOS device. Some people will install a HDMI switcher to make that easy. You could put a switcher there and put the DVD player back as well. Just search Amazon of HDMI switch if that’s of interest.

Streaming on the road takes some careful planning. Many parks, if they have WiWfi, won’t have the bandwidth for that. Your cell phone or hotspot data plan will often cap you at 10-15GB or month unless you have a coveted grandfathered truly unlimited. plan.

One more thing, we find instead using our Apple TV more often than not we end up downloading content when we are at someonewhere during the day with WiFi onto our phone or tablet and then watching it at night with an HDMI adapter. Also, mobile devices often don’t have the same data caps that hotspots do. Sometimes they even have free streaming.

So once again using our phones, streaming or downloaded, as the content delivery device works better for us than a dedicated streamer like RoKu or Apple TV just because of how data works on the road.

You would think an Apple TV would at least be good as a wireless connection to the phone. Depending on the show that may work or may not depending on the owner of the show. We found it wasn’t worth the guessing.
