Broken Door Glass on 2021 Flying Cloud

Traded in our 2017, 27' Flying Cloud RB for a new 25' FBT Flying Cloud (solar installed). In mid November we were having some furnace issues (detailed in another thread) so we took it into the dealership. While there we noted the door glass had cracked and asked them to schedule some time for repairing it. We figured it was covered under the warranty since the unit was so new. A few days later the dealership called and said that cracked glass is not covered under the warranty.

Spent some time in the manual and found: "Glass breakage, whether obviously struck or mysterious, is always accidental and covered by most insurance policies." Ugh! Looks like I am going to loose this one.

Figuring we had nothing to loose, we sent the following to Airstream:

"We purchased a new 2021 25' FBT Flying Cloud from Mark Wahlberg Airstream & RV in Columbus on September 9th of this year. During a recent service it was noted that a vertical crack has formed in the door window and were advised that this is not covered under our warranty? This unit is less than 3 months old with less than 700 miles on it. How can this be possible?"

Airstream's response:
"Window cracks and breakage is not covered under warranty. This is due to the possibility of a stone or other debris hitting the window while towing the unit."

Quote came back from the dealership $1578.33 out the door. I have attached 2 very painful pictures.

My question, has anyone else has their door window glass crack within the first 3 months of owning a new unit? Just curious.

Bummer, not really unexpected though. Surprising we don't hear about a lot of door windows broken, considering how they fix the door alignment. Search on "bent door".

I filed a claim to fix a $12,000 damage to 16' Bambi but insurance rate remained the same. I have Geico for insurance.

Have you asked how expensive the window is direct from AS store? Did you check Put of Doors Mart? I don't know how special the glass is, but maybe a local glass shop can help?
Good Luck!

Since you have to replace it anyway, you might consider going to clear glass if that interests you. Seems like I've seen a couple of people do that. I thing Ultimate Airstreams did it.

Consideration

If there is not a chip or obvious point of impact one would need to consider the cause my not be accidental. A TRAILER THIS NEW COULD EASILY HAVE A CORNER "PINCHED". You might revisit this with the dealer. I know I would. Good luck!

There are not any chips. I have an appointment at the factory in February. Thanks for the suggestion.

I did not check any of these. The local glass company would not touch it.

Insurance is...well...insurance

Someone thought they needed our TV while in covered storage and broke the window and tried to unlock the door - but gave up after using a knife to cut the screen and the aluminum panel on the screen door. Bent the screen door cross brace, too.

Total claim was just over $2,500. State Farm paid; no increase in premiums.

Note: no dealers near here so took it to an aircraft mechanic I have used for aircraft stuff - they have the rivet annealing oven and cutters and know what they are doing.

Excellent advice with the aircraft mechanic. This one is going into the insurance.
