Blue Ray, USB,

We have a 2020 Flying Cloud and we’re trying to figure out the electronics. I’ve included a photo. The BRP (blue ray player) has a USB port snd there is a USB port to the right of the BRP. I’m wondering how folks use the USB outlets. What devices work? The USB to the right of the BRP doesn’t charge so I’m wondering what it’s for? I couldn’t find specific info on the in others threads.

I think the USB port to the right of the DVD player connects to the television, allowing you to connect devices directly without having to plug them into the back of the television. I don’t use that USB outlet. I installed a combo USB-A and USB-C outlet in my trailer to charge phones and tablets.

Connecting a devise that held downloaded movies to that USB port to watch on the TV would be quite useful. Any idea what source you would select on the TV to connect the two?

I found in my '21 International, if want to use the USB to charge some device, I need to turn on the stereo, then the USB post become energized. I've not tried to use it for anything other then as a power source charge charging devices.

It's an input to the DVD player.
Plug in thumb drive with photos, movies, etc. Name files.
Select the DVD on the TV, open the MENU on the DVD looking at sources and see if a thumb drive under the <usb> logo shows up. Once you find the USB source, scroll up and down for the named file. I've used thumb drives to carry slide shows, MP4 videos, etc.

I’m not sure. I only tried it with my iPad when we had or factory LG dumb TV and I wasn’t able to connect. I replaced that unit with a Vizio smart TV that has Apple airplay, so now I just wirelessly stream content.

My money is on the USB goes to the DVD player and not the TV.
The DVD will have a HDMI output, so look at HDMI-1, HDMI-2, etc.
Once you find the DVD player, leave the TV untouched, and surf with the DVD remote looking for the USB

There’s also a USB port on the DVD player. Wouldn’t that be redundant?

It may go to the Stereo system, not the BDR DVD player.

It is a bit confusing. I need to take the cabinet apart and look at the wiring...

We had this same question in our 2022 FC RB.
The usb never worked, I took everything apart, looked and the wires and concluded nothing.
Last week I looked at the sterio and thought, is it connected to that!? A quick test and I confirmed it is connected to the sterio not the DVD.

On my 2018 27FBQ FC, the 2 USB plugs are for charging devices only. They are not connected to the sound system. If you remove the 2 screws on the RHS down low of the white box that the BRP is mounted in you will be able to swing the box out of the cabinet and gain access the back of the BRP and the wiring.

I have installed a HDMI splitter and routed an extra cable out the hole in the top of the box so I can connect my MacBook or iPad and watch movies, etc, with the proper device adapter thru the surround sound system. Only issue is that you have to have the main TV on with AUX selected to watch the other TV. I would connect a ROKU the same way.

We have a 2022 Caravel 20FB and I can confirm the USB port adjacent to the DVD and stereo units in our AS is connected to the stereo system. When the stereo is off, our USB outlet does nothing. When the stereo is on, the USB outlet will charge a device. It can also serve to connect an iPhone to the stereo and play music.

So, essentially it works exactly like the USB outlet in our cars' center consoles.
