Battery disconnect green light

This is a 2023 Flying Cloud 28. The battery disconnect light by entry door will be green and then go off for a time (currently it’s been off for about 2 hours). We’re plugged into 50amp service. Anyone have an idea about what’s going on? Does this mean my batteries are not being charged? We’re on road now headed to Jackson Center on Sunday.

Are you sure it is a battery disconnect light? Every battery disconnect light I have ever had has been red, and if it is off, the coach had zero 12v power.

I had a very unpredictable green battery disconnect light on our 2022 FC23CB, even when plugged in to shore power, which turned out to be a loose connection on the relay. I snugged up the connection and the light has been solid green ever since.

If you’re headed to JC anyway, I’d let them diagnose, but all the research I did when trying to diagnose mine led me to believe there was a loose connection somewhere…..

Our 2022 FC has a green battery disconnect light.

Interesting! I have had mine go out occasionally but it has never caused a problem. Personally, I wish the bright green light would just stay off as long as everything is working. It is so bright that I finally taped a piece of black leather above it that will hang down far enough to cover it so the front of the trailer is not green-lit when sleeping. I have thought about pulling it out to see if I can disconnect the light.

The green LED is built into the switch. I'm a bit smarter today than the first time I pulled the switch out to look at it. I figure the resistor is the current limiter for the LED and maybe I can just wire in a toggle switch to interrupt the power to the LED.

Hey Steve,

Thank you for the pictures! Given the resistor is right there it makes it much easier. From the looks of it that is a 270 ohm resistor. I am thinking a much larger resistor might dim it to just a faint glow. We are heading back out next week. I'll take the switch out, cut one end of the resistor, and put a potentiometer in temporarily to see what resistance is needed to dim it. Then solder in a permanent resistor replacement.

This question made me go to the trailer today to experiment. FYI, if you disconnect the 270 ohm resistor, the LED turns off AND the disconnect switch continues to work as usual. I tried replacing the 270 with various higher values and it does get dimmer as the values go up. The green LED is just barely visible at 47K ohms. Beats me if I'll use a resistor or just skip it. Easy enough to figure if the disconnect is active or not, listen for the relay 'click' or watch the house lights go out.

Double Thanks! I've got a 47k and will just put it in there, but you are right that it is fairly easy to tell the state.

ScottnAZ: Where is that relay located.

On my 2022 FC23, it is attached to the backside of the circuit breaker panel. I had to remove the screws holding the circuit panel in place and slide it out to access the back side

On our 25' FBT it's under the passenger side twin.

Soldered in the 47k ohm resistor this morning. Much better as a dim green.

Yeah, the green ring is way too bright on our 2022 globetrotter 27fb twin. It lights up the entire rear of the trailer.

I had planned to do the same investigation regarding swapping in a higher value resistor. Thanks for sharing the results of your experiment. It will save me some time as I won't need to repeat the same effort.

Starting in 2022 they made the disconnect lights green.
I liked the red ones better. Green is way too bright.

Human eyesight is most sensitive to light in the green wavelengths, next is blue light, and last in terms of sensitivity is red light.

So, for light at the same level of lumen output, green light will appear to be the brightest, while red will be the dimmest, even if all light sources are producing the same amount of light.

Battery disconnect light

Thanks to ScottnAZ, I provided his picture to our Jackson Center technician and it was exactly the problem. Now solved. Thank you ScottnAZ.
