Hi
Dig back into the archives, you will see many thousands of posts with people complaining "why didn't my AS come with a SmartPlug?????".
Yes, the price they charge for those (out of stock) adapters is pretty steep isn't it.... yikes .....

I admit that I know nothing about the Smartplug, but wouldn't it still have the TT-30P plug on the other end to plug into the campground pedestal? If so, why wouldn't your current adapters continue to work? If not, how do you plug it into the campground pedestal?

Why would you need all new dog bones? The 15 -> 30A and 30 -> 50A dogbones are the exact same as any other cord. The only thing that changes is the trailer receptacle and the cord itself...which the trailer comes with.
Source: the trailer in my driveway.
Also, if you have $65,000+ for a 2022 Airstream but are concerned about $50 in adapters, you might have skewed priorities.

Hi
If you are hooking up a 15A cord to your AS, the "normal" way to do it is to run the cord to the trailer and then do an adapter at the trailer. That way you are dealing with a nice light cord rather than the 30A ( or worse 50A) monster cable. A 50 or 100' 15A cord is *much* easier to manage.
The 15A dog bone adapter is $200 from SmartPlug. That's simply nuts. There's nothing there to make it cost that much ....

2022 fc 23cb
Good Morning,
Just received an email from my sales guy telling me he's now hearing my 2022 FC 23CB bunk unit scheduled to be delivered in 30 days'ish is coming with the 5 cu. ft. propane and 120V frig.
For something that is so costly, I'm still surprised one doesn't have 100% definitive information to share with the purchaser at the time of purchase?

There's nothing in an Airstream to make them cost $60k+, yet here we all are.

Anyone heard anything from Airstream yet on the 2022 changes?
Thought I would check again and see as most have just been speculating and new 2022 Airstreams are supposedly starting production now.
Sounds like nothing new but a price increase for 2022.

Kevin at Colonial Airstream said web site was supposed to be updated last week for 2022 info. He wasn't sure why hadn't been. He assumed this coming week it would happen. We ordered a 2022 Classic today and were told that the interior color options are changing with the 2022's.

If you noticed, the websites did change a little. The prices all went up last week. That was the only thing I saw different. The starting price for every line went up a little bit but no details of any other changes and no mention of 2022.

Our 2021 Bambi came with the Smart Plug. No special Dog Bone or adapter needed. We just plug it in to shore power the way we always have. Works great.

Hi
So it came with a 12" Smart Plug to household 15A adapter?

In talking to our sales guy he told me that the website will get updated on the 19th. I can confirm that for the classics the interior color choices have changed.

No new adapter. I plug the adapter we've always used into our house power while we are loading the trailer. Then the AS power cord into the trailer Smart Plug. Works just fine. Sounds to me as though folks are using an adaptor at the trailer end. We do not as we have found it unnecessary. We also have a standard 50A to 30A dog bone which we have not yet needed to use. If we do need to use it I will plug the dog bone into power, then the AS power cord to that and then into the Bambi. If you want to spend the money to get an adapter for the trailer end, have at it. We have found our way works just fine.

Hi
When you pull up 60' away from the garage, running a very normal 120V 15A cord is a *lot* easier than playing with a 30A or 50A RV cable. It also comes in very handy at some campgrounds .... We use a 15A adapter a *lot*.

Couldn't you still do it this way? Just run your normal 15A 120V extension cord out to the trailer. Hook up your 50A cord to the trailer but just leave it coiled up near the trailer then use a simple 50A to 15A set of adapters to get down to the proper male plug to use with the extension cord.
The only disadvantage I guess is that you still have to use the 50A cord but at least you don't have to uncoil and recoil it back up, which in colder weather can be an issue with a stiff 50A cord.

Hi
When the freezing rain comes down and *glues* everything to the ground, the 50A cord becomes a major pain to deal with. Much better to run something you could (at least temporarily) abandon. I've had to do that a couple of times.
Also with the trailer near "civilization" having that very expensive cord lying out worries me a bit. It does not worry me at all in a normal campground ... no idea why being "in town" makes that difference.
Finally, having that adapter down in the wet worries me more than a little. One never quite knows where a puddle is going to form. Yes you can go crazy with inverted buckets and supports, that just gives the dogs a target ... instant puddle

FWIW when I emailed Tim Maxwell from Airstream he replied on July 13th stating he suspects the enhancements for 2022 will be published later this month.

Seems like they are taking their time as 2022 models are already starting production.
