What’s new in 2022?

Trading in our 2019 classic 33 for a new 2022 comfort white 33. We placed order today for deliver end of year, it’s a 2022 build but I can’t find any info of differences 2021 vs 2022. Does anyone know what the changes if any are.

Also has anyone done the power plus and how much extra capacity the AGM’s can one expect. What was the cost of the power plus? I just learned about this after we made the deal, not sure if it is worth the cost vs an aftermarket lithium solution.

From my perspective where I boondock a lot, two of those are a definite downgrade. I wish they’d offer the originals as options in place of the electric fridge and tankless water heater. I’d love a composite floor, but those two things are a no-go for me and can’t really even be retrofitted.

Is the fridge a comparable size to the older ones?

What’s the cutoff for 21 vs 22? Our 30RB came off the line 2 weeks ago. I didn’t think to ask about it being a 21 vs 22.

Looked at the paperwork, it’s a 2021. So no smartplug…. Not sure what difference the refrigerator is between 21 to 22.

Ours is scheduled to come off the line on August 28. I am told it will be a ‘22. I believe the year change happens sometime in July.

I also believe yours will or does have a Smart Plug. I believe it was a 2021.5ish change.

I’m pretty sure you’ll have the SmartPlug. I’ve seen a lot of references to new trailers having it already, both here and on Facebook. Also, when we were at the mothership in early April, I wanted to buy a SmartPlug 50 amp inlet and cord at the company store. They didn’t have any in stock, but they asked us to come back later in the day because they had a set sent over from the factory. Sure enough, the set we got was not in retail packaging. They said they were standard on new trailers.

Here is an Email I just got from airstream about the changes.

—————

2022 Classic

Mocha Cherry and Cognac Maple retire

New Estate Brown, Chamomile/Earl Gray UL options

Window covering change

Updated lengths, weights

QR code’s

Remove ’scare light’ from side of unit

New cartridge style filter and interior air intake cover

New warm lighting

Upgraded LG projector and Bose sound bar (these started last month, but are still new for 2022)

We removed the Harmony remote on the 33

Not sure if we counted the 10 cu. ft. Fridge as a 2021.5? If we did no need to state it again…if we didn’t let’s add it to 2022 (we have been shipping this way for a few months now).

New Airstream Power Plus standard (2 lithium batteries) with lockable compartment

Updated Smart App and new CZone software

Any 2022MY production start began 7/12/21

I’m guessing the structural changes to the roof people have commented on in other threads have to do with the cartridge style air filter and new air intake.

Also, they did not specify what window covering changes means.

Thank goodness for the lithium standard now.

Not sure what changes to length might mean. Maybe the just mean update to the weight per length, if length actually changed then I would expect that the layout would change. Although if they increased 33 to 34 I would be tempted to get a Queen if you could actually walk around the bed with it down.

All the travel trailers still say 2021, including the brochures
